    2. Denver Hicks
    3. Helen, James Hicks was an early arrival in FC with an entry for the vacant land between Hardiman and Stephen Johnson on Crooked Creek in 1826. In 1833, this land proved to be 125 acres, and was on both sides of Crooked Creek. James and Jane was very young in 1826 from the 1830 census of FC. (Under 30 years of age, with an older adult female living in household). They are not found in any later census, but are mentioned in court documents (Jane Hicks vs James Hicks in 1866 if my memory is correct). Since Joseph and Elizabeth are living on what would likely be this land in 1860, I believe they are children of James/Jane Hicks and Mark/Serilda Dishman. I'm working on who this James Hicks was... 3. Thanks, Gary I plan to visit Wayne Co later this summer. I just came to the conclusion recently that the Joseph Hicks and Elizabeth (?) in the FC Census of 1860 had to be Elizabeth Dishmon...dtr. of Mark Dishmon...since I can't find her anywhere else...and they lived in the exact same area. I hope to further investigate and prove this to be true. 3. Denver, Have you seen the Dishman book at the library in Monticello? I will be glad to look up Mark's family if you would like. It seems the Dishmans rode the state line and jumped back and forth to avoid the Trail of Tears for some of the females of the family. I am a descendant of the Dishman family. The Dishman Cemetery in Wayne County does not contain any marked graves of the older Dishmans. There are about 200 fieldstone graves. Chief Doublehead's grave is well marked in the northern part of Wayne County. Gary D. 2. Do you know Linda Clark, who is also a decendent of Robert Stewart. Matilda Stewart, , one of Roberts sister is my g-g-grandmother, she married James Delk, Jane Stewart m. Jefferson Pile. Do you know the name of Roberts mother? Or the maiden name of the second wife Ann? I think James died between 1850/60, I do not find him after the 1850 census. Wilma

    3. Moodyville, right on the Fentress/Pickett County line Near route 325, there is also a Moody Rd that intersects 325. There isn't anything "big" near by, but it is surrounded by Cedar Grove on the north east, Mount Airy on the northeast, Mount Union on the west, Red Hill on the east, and Double top on the south. It's about 11 miles ( straight line to the northwest from Jamestown, Tenn ). It also about 11 miles straight line from Albany, Kentucky if you were to draw a line between Albany and Jamestown. There is a "Wright Branch" river or creek that is just to the West of Moodyville.
