Phyllis, Which Clarkrange cemetery are you asking about? The Fentress County Cemetery book by Wheeler lists the Clarkrange Methodist Cemetery, and there are Millers there and there are Hodges there, but none of the names that you mentioned. No Edwards'. Among the early settlers in the area that would become Morgan County were David, Joseph, Benjamin & Ezra STONECIPHER. Surely they were related, but I don't know just how. They arrived there before 1810 - I guess it was still part of Roane County at that time. Wilma I did a search and guess what....Oliver Springs TN is in 3 counties...Anderson, Morgan and Roane http://www.reachwc.org/pages/05otn.html At the bottom of the page above it tells...Now I've heard something new. My father was born there andhis birth certificate said Roane. Milly WARD Piros My Mind is Like Lightning.... One Brilliant Flash and It's Gone.......
Milly I beleive Oliver Springs in Anderson and Morgan Co. Part of it in each county. Morgan Co is full of Stonechiphers, so one might try Wartburg for the marriage Wilma
I believe that Oliver Springs is in Roane County. I am not familiar with the STONECHIPER. I do have Marriage of Anderson Co and Obits of Roane Co by Robert Bailey. You have a wonderful collection of materials. You work makes me envious. I am truly impressed. A couple of generations ago Molly Russell married a Stonecipher in Oliver Springs, TN. Any connection? Milly: Here is something for you if you do not already have it. This is the 1880 Census from Anderson Co., TN with Nancy DAUGHERTY as a widow with three sons. Do you think she is the right one? If so, these sons must have been from Elisha, and there must have been more children. This is the only way I can 'make the score even'. Thank you for your information. I am just filling in many gaps in my research. I do like to connect the families if I can, and this falls into my early HUGHETT line. Thank you, Milly: I do have 7 children for Preston & Clara (HEWITH / HUGHETT) BURGE with one difference as to what you sent. On the August 9, 1860, census of Anderson Co., TN, the Henry is listed at 1 year old. Then on the August 5, 1870, census in Huntsville, Scott Co., TN there is Brazzleton BURGE @ 11 years old. I made a note of this some time ago to myself, wondering if these two names were the same son as the age progression is accurate for the 10 year advancement. I did not find this Henry on the 1870 census. My question is this...did the son, Henry, die or was his middle name Brazzleton? Or were they actually two different children? If you have the correct information about this family, I would appreciate a correction for my files. I do live in CA and any corrections I can get are easier this way. My trips to TN are usually for about six or seven days, and I try to have everything done before I travel, so I can make good use of my time. I fly into Nashville and search in four different counties in TN and then go on to KY. I hope to be back in April. Also for the William & Juda (LAWSON) BURGE family: I do not have birth dates for Samuel, Elizabeth, and Nancy. If you have these, would you mind sending them? Thanks again, Milly. I always enjoy your 'notes'. Dixie (SCOTT)
And Happy Holidays to you, too, Pat. I would enjoy a visit with my gggrandfather, also. And questions would be similar to yours, I'm sure. Stomach flu is making its rounds here - so far so good. Dan's family has all been sick, however. Glad it's just a 2-day thing. Have been lazier than a hound dog for a couple of days. Tomorrow I will get busy. Helen
