    3. Wilma, Your check came today. I will try to get your book in the mail in the morning. Thanks! I'm not much on the history of the eastern part of the county, but I cross the Brewster Bridge pretty often. The Samuel Crabtree Mill was noted as being in existence before 1824, so I'd say it is probably referring to the older Samuel. Thanks for the extra information. Happy Easter! 3. Myra, I have the Grist Mill that we used Saturday in my garage. When can I bring it up to the Jail? Will need to meet someone there, or have a key available in the Chamber office. It will require a table about four feet long by 2 feet wide to accommodate it. I will bring one of the books to display with it, and also an acknowledgement that Bernard Taubert made and donated it to the Historical Society. 1. Austin & Elizabeth Choate
    2. Hi Frank, Elizabeth Young Choate, b. 1801; according the 1850 Fentress County census, born in VA. I have never been able to determine anything on the Elizabeth's Young family. 1850 Fentress County census, District No. 4: Page 786, Dwelling no. 231, Austin Choat, 55, VA Elizabeth, 49, VA Jacob, 24, TN Sally, 18, TN Ann, 15, TN Celia, 13, TN John, 10, TN Christopher, 8, TN Denna, 4, TN Page 786, Dwelling no. 232, Adkison, Jas, 20, TN Nancy, 22, TN Mary, 1/12, TN Page 786, Dwelling no. 233, Geo Choat, 29, TN, Farmer and can not read or write Linda, 25, TN Malissa, 6,TN Lusy, 4, TN Jas., 2, TN Jacob, 1, TN If you will note, that my g. grandmother, Nancy, lives between her parents and her brother, George. The daughter, Mary, was named Mary E. The E. we believe could have been named after her grandmother Elizabeth Young Choate or her g. grandmother, Elizabeth Atkinson, b. 1764. Hope this will answer your question on the 1850 Fentress County Census and of George Choate. This census came from the micro-fishe roll which I have a copy. I have not attempted to do a complete Choate family research other than my line as other have done so, including my cousin, Bev Casey and Irene Choate Williams. 1. Re: [TNFENTRE-L] Jacob Choate/Ledbetter
    2. I show that Jacob and Mary had 9 children........and that Jacob and Mary are buried in the Wm. Isaac Robbins Private Cem (I have no idea where that is). Their children as I have it: Malinda Malissa Emaline Alice Sarah/Sally Gertrude Benton Martha Nancy Robert Allen I.C.W. obtained this info from 1880 Overton Co., TN census and the " History of Fentress Co., TN, Vol #1) The history book states he was b. 28 Apr 1849., but I have him down as 1851........................

    1. Re: [TNFENTRE-L] Jacob Choate
    2. Bev, I have an Austin Choate born c1795 in Virginia married to an Elizabeth born c1801 in Virginia. They have seven children of which the oldest is Jacob born 1826 in Tennessee. All info I have is from census records. Would this be the family below that you are writing about? Frank Brown Kansas City ============================ Well, I have that Austin being married to Elizabeth Betsy Young and them having 10 children...........with the following notes: 1850 census says he was born in NC in 1795 but from David Atkinson's copy of 1850 Fentress County census, Dist #4,pg 786, shows him born in Va and his age as 55 and farmer. Per Irene, in 1880--Austin, Elizabeth and daughter, Ladenna had moved in with his son Christopher.

    1. Re: [TNFENTRE-L] Choate/Guthery
    2. Now that is a mystery, because I do not have any Austin Choate that is married to a Guthery. I have Mullinix names in my data but not the one you speak of. I have a Gabriel Choate who married a Phoebe Guffey and they ended up in KY. Maybe your line is from some of the Augustine/Austain Choates..........where is Ken when you need him, that is his direct line and I know he has a bunch of research in that area. Am intrigued though, would you mind giving me this Guthery family location and some more info on your Austin, so maybe I can get an idea of what area they were in. Thanks, Bev
