    3. Milly, Thank you for that bit of info. The age frame of the HH census certainly fits. Only difference is that by 1830 Fentress, Thomas has 2 daughters b. 1815-1820, whereas the Thomas in SC lists no daughters. However, This is a start. Thanks again! 3. Daniel, Thank you for responding to my query. Your Linda/Lynda Huckaby md to Samuel Ipock of Fentress Co. is likely a decendant of Thomas Huckaby b. 1785 NC. He has sons John, George, and three other unidentified sons listed in Thomas' 1830 Fentress Co. HH. I do not loacate Thomas in either Overton or Fentress Co. Thomas was in either NC or TN in 1820 along with son, George. Both Thomas and George show up in Fentress Co in 1830 census, George with three children b. bet 1820-1830. George must have been married abt 1825 to Rebecca LNU. b 1806 NC. She reports both her parent b in NC as well. In studing the Overton/Fentress Co. census', Rebecca may be the d/o Robert Storie and Ruth Lewis both b. NC. 1820 Overton, Robert has 2 daughters b. bet 1804-1810. These two daughters are yet to be identified. 1830 Robert shows up in Fentress Co. I am trying to fnd out if both Robert Storie and George Huckaby lived in close proximity to each other. If anyone has this info of where both George and Robert lived in Fentress Co in 1830, would be very helpful. 3. Willie, Thank you, thank you. Yes, I would appreciate a copy of the post card. That would just tickle my Uncle Fred to no end. I hope and pray he gets well enough to make one more trip with me next spring. That would be a special gift for both of us. I will have to go to the courthouse and look for some of the places that were covered by Dale Hollow and see if I can find a tract of the homeplace. Here we have plat books that show layouts of owner sites. I think Gary told me they didn't have them down there...?? I hope anyone interested in Grist Mills sends and gets a copy of your book. I read ever word tonight, and recognized familar names. The pictures, they reach out and touch the past inside your heart. The days I should have been born in. By the way I got an email with info of the Beaty's to my Pryor family, and Civil War info. I will forward that to you. 3. Patty, I talked with the owner of the Eastport Boat Dock Saturday, and asked him if he knew exactly where Spurrier was, and he pointed across the lake (only a few hundred feet across) and said it was over there. So I'm thinking that Spurrier was nearer to Eastport than further up river, as I had indicated, toward Robbinstown. However, either way, it was on the north side of the Obey River (now backwaters of the Dale Hollow Lake). I have a picture of the Spurrier post office taken in/about 1905, according to what is written on the photo. Do you have that? If not, I'd be glad to email it to you. Glad you liked the Grist Mills book. I visited the site of another mill Saturday, and found a broken, but pretty good shape, millstone. Another photo or two to add to my next edition of the book. Will be very interested to see what you come up with on your visit down here in June. 3. Hey Willie, Thank you for the info of Spurrier, I will put that and the others I received with my Uncle Fred's family history. I received your Grist Mills of Fentress County today. You really did a nice job of the putting it together, and I love the pictures. This evening I will get a chance to read it all. I'm glad your small project turned into a book. I talked with Lewis last night and he said he would tell me of the Grist Mills he knows of and where they were, who owned them, and if there are any pieces, part etc. left of them in Overton county. He said when he gets together for coffee again, he would bring up the subject to the men and in June when I come down we will go for a little look at things. I will put all the info I get to you in the mail while I am there. 3. Willie, Thank you for the info. I have been studying the census to identify yhe wife of George Huckaby, Rebecca b. 1806 NC. In 1880 Fentress, she is widowed living with her daughter. The census lists both her parents birthplace as NC as well. I know she md George Huckaby around 1825-30, so i looked through all th families close by that were from NC. I found that both Robert Storie b. 1784 NC and his wife, Ruth Lewis were from NC, thus old enough to be her parents. In 1830, both the Huckaby and the Storie families were in close proximity according to the census. In 1850, Fentress, George and Rebecca were n HH # 701 and a James Storie (s/o Robert and Ruth) is in HH # 698. Anyone have the info on Robert Storie's children? Did he have a daughter, Rebecca b. 1807? I know he had James b. 1807 and a Catherine b. 1820. He must have had more. Any help/info/or feedback certainly welcomed. Thanks again JW Garrett -----Original Message----- From: Willie R Beaty Sent: Thu, 20 Apr 2006 20:06:37 -0700 To: TNFENTRE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNFENTRE-L] 1860/1870/1880 Dist #11 James, In 1860/1870 District #11 was around Byrdstown between the Lake and Wolf River, and extending East toward Etter. But I was thinking that Pickett County, though it was not officially established until 1881, had their own census in 1880, with new districts. I'd have to look that up. I know that there were - and are - Huckebys who lived down around Byrdstown. I have this on the George and Rebecca household in 1860: 1860 Census Huckaby Amanda 14 1845-1846 f TN Olympus Dist 11 #67 Huckaby Feriba 16 1843-1844 f TN Olympus Dist 11 #67 Huckaby Armazin 17 1842-1843 f TN Olympus Dist 11 #67 Huckaby Andrew J. 19 1840-1841 m TN Olympus Dist 11 #67 Huckaby George(farmer)54 1805-1806 m NC Olympus Dist 11 #67 Huckaby Rebeccah 55 1804-1805 f TN Olympus Dist 11 #67 I have read that Olympus was located about 6 miles Southwest of where Byrdstown now is, which would mean that it was across the river (Dale Hollow Lake) toward Livingston. That must place it somewhere around the Boom Community, I'm thinking. 1. Re: [TNFENTRE-L] Re: SMITH -- MISSING PERSON QUESTION
    2. You might check Franklin County, Arkansas. My Edgin and Conatser families moved from Fentress County to DeKalb County, Alabama during the 1830's or 1840 and moved on to Franklin County, Arkansas in the early 1850's. Eldon J. 1. Spurrier
    2. You are absolutely correct, Willie. The reason I know is that at one time Spurrier was the mailing address of some of my Rich line. helen

    1. Spurrier

    3. Patty, I don't think you'll be able to get to Spurrier. As near as I can tell, the community was located on the north side of the Obey River between East Port and Robbinstown. I believe that it got covered up when Dale Hollow Lake was built. There used to be a road that went down to East Port from the north, and there was a small ferry that would haul one vehicle at a time. The last time I was across the ferry was in the mid-fifties, but I understand that it operated until about 1972. Maybe someone else has a better knowledge of Spurrier's location. I can't find it on any maps I have. My Great-grandmother Rosa Lee Pryor and family were from there. Her father was John Reed Pryor, and her mother was Mary Elizabeth Beaty from Grimsley, Fentress Co. I know where that is. Patty Schulz

    3. James, In 1860/1870 District #11 was around Byrdstown between the Lake and Wolf River, and extending East toward Etter.
