So one of the 5 sons that have been listed for Joel Jr. belong to either Joel or Charles Reagan. Queston is who? I think Charles b 1778 had the son Charles b. abt 1800. Not sure abt who the other 2 sons were b. 1804-10. In regards to Wm "Billy" Reagan, I note that he is listed on 1830 Fentress Co census, apparently just married, no children yet. He had to be at least 21 by 1830, therefore his BD was abt 1809, not 1811. The census indicates he was b. 1801-1810. Also I note that you had him to be md to a Mary "Mollie" Beaty. I know know who the ? Reagan is of 1880 Fentress. He was b. 1808/09 and md to a "Mollie". He is Wm "Billy"Reagan. What still concerns me more is the BD of Samuel Reagan. Either 1791-1800 according to 1840 Fentress, or abt 1810/11 according to 1850 Overton and 1860 Fentress. Are there 1 or 2 Samuel Reagans? Another question? To whom did Larkin Reagan Marry? Was it Mary Bookout? I find him in 1840 Fentress, but cannot locate him afterwads. He had a daughter, Anna who married in MO. I wonder if Joel Reagan moved there after 1840? 1. Re: [TNFENTRE-L] Caleb Reagan
    2. james garrett
    3. Pat, The more I research the Reagans of Overton and Fentress, the more problems I seem to enounter. In studying the the 1810 Wiles and 1820 Overton, Charles, Joel, Peter Jr had the following number of sons born before 1810/11. Charles had 3 sons b. befre 1810/11 Joel had 2-3 sons, more likely 2 b. bef 1810/11. Peter jr had 4 sons b. bef. 1810/11. Thus a total of 9-10 males b. before 1810/11. These are the male sons I have found thus far b. bef 1811. 1) Wm Billy Reagan b 1809/10 2) Caleb Reagan b. 1801 3) Samuel Reagan b. either 1790-1800 or 1810/11. I am wonderng if there were two Samuel Reagans? 4) Larkin Reagan b. 1809 or before 5) Charles Reagan b. 1800 6) Charles Reagan b. 1803/04. There were two Charles Reagans b. close together. 7) Joel Reagan b. 1807/08 8) John Reagan b. 1802/03 9) M.? Reagan of 1880 Fentress b. 1808/09. Cannot identify this Reagan. Now I want to attempt to figure out which one of these male sons belongs to Charles, Joel, and Peter Jr Reagan. So, first I would like to start out with Peter Jr Reagan. Whom do you have listed as sons for Peter Reagan Jr. There shuld be 4 sons. I know Caleb is one of them b. 1801. I called my dads 2nd wife, Jimmie Nell Reagan, she has info a Lloyd Reagan put together. According to his source, Peter Jr had the following sons: Caleb b. 1801 John b. 1802/03 Charles b. 1803/04 Joel L. b 1806/07 Wm "Billy" b. 1809/10. However, he lists 5 sons. I think one of them belongs to either Joel or Charles. What do you think? But will be glad to help in anyway I can. The Wm. you mentioned is believed to be Wm. "Billy" the age would be about right, but again do not know that for sure. The Charles in Overton was the son of Henry Reagan, not sure where our Charles was. You mentioned Rachel's last name as Gwinn I had never heard that before. Do you think she might be related to Susannah that married Isaac Beaty? Know there were Gwinn in Wilkes Co. think I have a couple of land records. 2. Jill I have the papers, but I'm not sure 1941 is among them. When Luther York went off to WWII, they paper wasn't published, for the years he was gone. One would think there would be a death certificate, but record keeping can be sloppy at any time. If he died in another county or state, you might find something there. There is a man in S. C. who will look to see if there is a death certificate and if so they are $4 each, and if it isn't there, no charge. Wilma

    2. I have been trying to find the death record of my Great Great Grandfather, James Walter Franklin, he was married to Charlotte Jane "Lottie Jane" Beaty, d/o Richard and Lydia Stephens Beaty. James Walter "Big Jim" Franklin was born July 31, 1874 Fentress Co., TN.-d. July 14, 1941 Boatland, Fentress Co., TN. He was buried at the Dempsey Bowden Cemetery at Boatland. I just wanted to find his obituary or maybe his death certificate. So far, I have found nothing. I searched the Archives in Nashville but it was my first visit and I really wasnt sure if I had looked through all the micro film that was available. If anyone would have any access to the old Fentress County Paper for that year, I would greatly appreciate it if you could see if his obit is in it. Jill Franklin Hicks
