Hi List Members, I recieved this email from Rootsweb. Not sure if you all know about the planned changes, so I thought I'd pass the letter on to you all. Dear RootsWeb mailing list subscriber, We are excited to announce that in the coming weeks, the RootsWeb.com mailing lists will be moving to a new list management system. Why? The new list management system offers updated technology, better spam control, and more efficient hosting of the lists. When? All the lists won't be updated all at once. In fact, once we start it will take us about two weeks to complete the process. We've posted the additional details about the update and a current update schedule at the link below. http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html This page can also be found by following the link found on http://lists.rootsweb.com. If there are any changes to the schedule, we'll update this page to let you know. How will it Affect You? Your current subscription(s) will automatically transfer to the new system so there will be no need to re-subscribe to your list(s), however, because the sending and receiving of list email will be handled by a new system, you may notice a few changes to your list(s). Digest subscribers will notice a small difference in the layout, volume and issue numbers of the list digests. The "-L" is being dropped from the "official" list name. This means the "from" address your mailing list emails come from will be slightly different- ListName@rootsweb.com vs. the current ListName-L@rootsweb.com. You may have to adjust your spam filters or put the new address on your "accept" list to prevent it from being caught in your "junk" folder. This sounds like a big change, but it doesn't have to change the way you use the list. Here's why: - You will still be able to send messages to the list using the "ListName-L@rootsweb.com" email address you use today. Additionally, you can choose to drop the "-L" and send your messages to ListName@rootsweb.com. Both addresses will work after the list has been migrated. - You will still be able to subscribe and unsubscribe to the mail or digest mode by sending your request to ListName-L-request@rootsweb.com or ListName-D-request@rootsweb.com as you do today. You will also be able to unsubscribe from the mail or digest mode by sending your "unsubscribe" message to LISTNAME-request@rootsweb.com. The tools that list administrators use to manage their list will also be changing. If you are a list admin, you will be contacted in an additional email on Monday with more details and a link to a tutorial. We're excited about the improvements to the lists because we feel confident that they will ensure that the mailing lists continue to run smoothly for years to come. We appreciate your patience while we make this transition and hope that the RootsWeb mailing lists will continue to be a valuable tool in your genealogy research. Thanks, The Rootsweb Staff Milly WARD Piros My Mind is Like Lightning.... One Brilliant Flash and It's Gone.......

Gosh JW, Think anything is possible, especially since we don't have wills for our ancestors. Most of our Reagan research came from Wilma R. Pinkley, she has a lot of the old records, family bible for John etc. so don't know if she had the actual proof for Caleb or not. Since they usually named their 1st son after their father with Caleb naming his 1st born Peter then it made sense he belonged to Peter Jr. If you really feel Caleb is Joel's will try to help you find the proof. I do think she must have had something though as she knew he had went to Newton Co. MO and had the names of his 2 sons. Will send you John's information on your private e-mail. Pat
Pat, What year was John Calvin Reagan born, s/o Joel? Also can you give me the the info on your John Reagan b. 1802 sons, names and date of births. The census info you found on Caleb and his three sons, John, Peter, and Charles is informative. Rachel Reagans HH of 1830 has two males b. 1825-30 and 1 male 1820-25. We assume that the male of HH was either Samuel or Larkin. However, in looking a the 1840 census for thier HH, there are no male children living with them that fit that paticular age range (ten yrs later). But with the info you have found, I note that Caleb has two males b. 1825-30: John and Charles both b. abt 1828, and one male 1820-25: Peter b. 1825. What are the chances that Caleb could be the male head of HH b. 1800-1810. What's your thought on this? Pat BTW Does Joel L Reagan b. 1807 exist on any 1840 census? I find him 1850 on. I would like to know about his sons and their birth dates. Do you have any info on is sons? JW Garrett -----Original Message----- From: Ronpat158@aol.com Sent: Tuesday, July 18, 2006 11:43 PM To: TNFENTRE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNFENTRE-L] Caleb Reagan Hi JW, I have not found Peter Jr. in the census before 1820 Overton, so really not sure how many sons he might have had. As to Wm. "Billy" mentioned before some researchers think he was not the son of Peter Jr. my information on him came from a gentleman in TX who is a descendant of Wm. I am not sure we will every find out the birth dates of our ancestors, unless someone should have their family bible with dates. Joel first shows 2 sons in 1810 so would assume Samuel & Larkin were born between 1800 and 1810. As for 2 Samuel's don't know of any other besides your Jacob Samuel who evidently went by his middle name. I do not know who Larkin married, like you have not found him after 1840 census. I had seen a reference to Mary Bookout before, but don't remember if it was marriage to Larkin. Which Joel are you referring to Joel Lucy son of Peter or another one? Joel Lucy that married Margaret Pennycuff stayed in Fentress and they are buried in Joel Lucy Reagan/Joel Hinds Cem. in Upper Crab Creek. The Anna you speak of is this a daughter of Larkin? Pat, In regards to to the number of sons Peter Reagan Jr. had before 1820, I did not mean to include 1810 Wilkes Co. NC. Since Peter Jr was b. abt 1779, he would have been on his own no earlier than 1800. A male had to be 21 to own land and be on his own. He was md 1800 according to your info to Nancy. Thus they had children after 1800 beginning with Caleb 1801. So according to 1820 census Peter Jr had only 4 sons bet 1800 and 1820, including two daughters. So Wm "Billy" may or may not be a son of Peter Jr. I think that 1 of the 5 belongs to either Charles or Samuel. The d/o Larkin Reagan was Anna Caroline b. 1844 in Fentress. She md George Washington Sweet 1866. She died in MO according to source. Looking at the 1810 Wilkes, I agree that Joel had two males b. bet 1800 and 1810. In 1820 Overton, one of them is b. 1802-1804. The identity of this male child could be: 1) John Reagan b. 1802, but he is your line via Peter Jr. 2) Charles Reagan b. 1803/04 3) Possibly Larkin b. before 1810. I cannot establish a definite year for him. According to 1840 Fentress he is b. 1801-1810 with 5 children b. bef 1830. He is at least 21, thus b. before 1819, then he has 5 children by 1840, subtract 1-2 yrs for each child born apart, thus 1819-(5 to 10 yrs)= born abt 1809-1814. Larkin is not found on the census in 1830, therefore he had to be under 21 in 1830, thus b. abt 1809/1810. If he was 21 or older he would more likely have been on his own. However, In studing the 1830 Fentress census for Rachel Reagans (widow) HH we find a male b. 1800-1810. We assume he is Samuel, but now I think he could be Larkin. If Samuel was b. 1810/11, he would be the male child 15-20, not yet on his own or married. I think the male adult 20-30 is Larkin head of HH who is already married with two male children, born 1825-30. So if this is Larkin already married, he is at least 21, (b. before 1809) with 2 males <5, therefore 1809-5=b. abt 1804. This would fit the age range for Joel's male child of 1820 Overton 1802-04. If I could locate Larkin in 1850, I could establish a determined BD. For now I can ony guess he was b. before 1810. I wonder if he went to MO since his daughter, Anna Caroline is in Webster Co., MO...? Could he be there in 1850? Again any comments/feedback or additional info welcomed!!!!! Or the daughter of Wm. "Billy"?
