    1. [TNFENTRE] BEATY-KOGER REUNION
    2. Willie R. Beaty
    3. Dear family & friends, It's that time of year again! Andrew & Sally Koger Beaty Reunion Saturday, November 4, 2006 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Wolf River Methodist Church Pall Mall, Tennessee October 5, 2006 Dear Family & Friends, The Eleventh Annual Andrew and Sally Koger Beaty Reunion is the first Saturday in November, just one month away. And since our mailing is limited to those who are children or grandchildren of Andrew and Sally, we depend upon you to help us get the word out. We do send e-mail announcements to all family members and friends of our grandparents that we have addresses for, so please give us anyone's e-mail address that you know would like to have an invitation to attend. Our announcement will be in the Fentress Courier and the Pickett Press newspapers for two weeks prior to the event. Again this year we are asking you to bring old family pictures, especially pictures of Granddad and Granny. We will have a copier on hand so you can make copies of any photos or documents on a cost recovery basis. Also, if you have a cherished item that belonged to either Granny or Granddad, and can bring it, we will have a table set up to display the items. There will be cards that you can write your name on and any special memories you have related to the item. We will call this the Andrew and Sally Beaty Heirloom Display. Please plan to have your items there by 11:30 at the latest, so everyone will have a chance to see them. So, come early to the Reunion, bring your family, your heirloom items, your old pictures, something good to eat, and something to share with others. That's a lot, but it will be fun and interesting. If you want to meet everyone, get there before 12:00 p.m. and stay until the end. Our Great-grandmother (Grandad's mother) was Mary C. "Polly" Matthews. I recently found her brother, John H. Matthews and his wife Ida Bowles (Boles) Matthews, buried in the Storey Cemetery, between Oneida and Robbins, TN. Since then, I have discovered that they had an adopted daughter named Dora Mae, who married a Chesser. I don't know where she is buried. They also had another daughter, Connie, who first married Ralph Gordon Vanderpool and second married a Storey. She is buried in the same cemetery as her parents. She had a son by her first husband named W. Gordon Vanderpool, born about 1928. See you at the Reunion! Willie

    1. [TNFENTRE] SGT ALVIN YORK Movie and some good times
    2. One of our Memebers has informed me of the Sgt York Movie being released on a DVD Nov 7 2006. To those intrested in purchasing it go to this addie. It is being sold through Amazon.com. I have seen the old black & white movie on tv many times. I remember Rosier Piles played by Walter Brennan. He had a store in Pall Mall. I remember eating my first Payday candy bar from his store.. http://www.amazon.com/Sergeant-York-Cooper/dp/B000HWZ4CA I also remember the Rolling Store coming down our road, unpaved it was. You could see a car coming I swear from 2 miles away. There was always a big cloud of dust. We could also tell where it would stop. My cousins OMA( TOOTIE) LEFFEW, JANIE DELK and I would run real fast and gather up as many eggs as we could to trade for candy and gum. It took 2 eggs for a candy bar. And gum, my goodness lasted for a month or more. At night we really did put it on a bedpost. Cause if we slept with it, it would somehow fall out of our mouths and get into our hair...(grin)As the gum got stale we would roll it around in the sugar it brought back the sweet taste but no flavor. Speaking of the dust cloud we also could see the rain as it came. We would be sitting on the LEFFEW porch and the rain would get closer and closer. I can still visualize it....Oh, what great times those were...They are all lost now in the progress of our world. Times were simpler back then but they were also good sometimes.....My grandchildren and great grandchildren will never get to see those times...... Just found out my 2nd great grandchild will be born in December. That will make 10 grands and 3 greats....Boy, what a bunch of descendants I will have, eh! Milly WARD Piros My Mind is Like Lightning.... One Brilliant Flash and It's Gone.......

    3. Milly I spent about an hour in the court house today trying to find a divorce decree for Lemuel Delk and Permelia Delk. I'm sorry to say that I found nothing. I looked in both the register's office, which would show recorded decrees and in the circuit court clerk's office, which has court dockett's, minutes, and other old records. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to go through more than a couple of the most likely books that are there, and there is a room full. The person in the office asked whether I was sure that they divorced in Tennessee. I told her I was not. Do you know? 1. Re: [TNFENTRE] ROCK CREEK TENNESSEE
    2. Willie R. Beaty
    3. The Rock Creek area is in the northeastern part of the county. I'm not sure where the community was, but Rock Creek heads up just north and east of the Pickett State Park, and runs in a northeasterly direction into KY. There was a logging rail road into the Rock Creek area that closed down in the thirties or early forties. Rock Creek is now part of the Pickett State Park and the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area. There is no active community there, but there are trails leading down to the Rock Creek. If this is the place you're looking for, I can give you directions to access the trails. Hope this helps. 3. Patty, The Fentress Co Library is open at 8:30 or 9:00 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m. most days, except Saturday, when they close at noon. I believe these are accurate times - close anyway. I will check on it, and let you know if different. Members of the Society are there frequently, but have no definite schedule. If you will let me know when you might be coming, I can see that someone (maybe myself) can meet you there to give you a little orientation. Whose wife, or if they were single women. County Court Records, Fentress Co., TN April Term 1898 p. 423 E. PILE was paid $2.75 for burial expenses for MAUD CRABTREE July Term 1897 p.368 E. Could be the reason you aren't getting mail. If you notice there is no L in email address anymore. Rootsweb dropped it since they changed an email program. I really don't like it at all. A couple of other administrators said they don't like it either. We have approve some messages and spam. If someone posts from Message board we have to approve most of the time....Sometimes I have as many as 9 to approve. Oh well. As long as you get my mail through the List ...it's working... 3. Hi Linda, was going through some of the older correspondences and saw your query. Rev. Joseph Lee Anderson & Susanna(h) "Susie" Stewart were cousins both being descendants of Hiram "Little Hi" and Minerva Jane "Neva" (DELK) Crabtree. They 4 children living in 1999(names unknown to me). Susie died when her youngest child was about three or four years old. I have both their Delk lineages traced back to Roger Delk who died ca 1635. Were you looking for anything in particular? Here a little more information: 1930 Fentress Co, TN census Lee Anderson 29 TN/TN/TN b. 1900-1901; md at age 17; ED 25-2, Supv Dist 6, Sheet 3A, #42/43. 1930 Lee Anderson 29 TN/TN/TN 1900-1901 Susa Anderson 28 TN/TN/TN 1901-1902 Willis Anderson 2 11/12 TN/TN/TN 1927 Wallace Anderson 10/12 TN/TN/TN 1929 Avo Stewart 16 TN/TN/TN 1913-1914; sis-in-law Hollins Stewart 18 TN/TN/TN 1911-1912; bro-in-law wife: Elsie Lee Lea Pennycuff- Obituary in Fentress Courier 26 Feb 1997 page 26. Pallbearers were Ray Goney, Tony Goney, Danny Gunter, Eddie Gunter, Darin Dalton, Tobie Dalton, Adam Dalton, Derek Pennycuff, Matthew Pennycuff and Tim Pennycuff. Have her Bennighof /Pennycuff line traced back before 1640 in Germany. Have Dorothy Lowes' lineage traced back to Monroe Lowe b. 12 Sep 1859 Hope this helped. 3. Hey Willie, Learn something ever day don't we. By the way, what are the hours for the Library in Fentress and is the Historical Society there all the time working and helping ones like me that couldn't fight or fine her way out of a wet paper bag? I have never been to the Library. I have so much ready to look for when I come down, my head is a buzz thinking of it. Patty ----- Original Message ----- From: "Willie R.
