Hi Helen, I'm not sure where he is buried. I did a search on www.findagrave.com and didn't come up with his name, but that doesn't mean he's not there. There are two other cemeteries near there, the Camp Nelson Cemetery and the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. These could be the same cemetery, I don't know. Thanks, Tonya. Do you know if there is any way to tell what unit a soldier was in if he mustered in at Camp Dick Robinson? And Camp Dick Robinson Cemetery is where Jonathan Voiles is buried - is that right, Tonya? And of course, Jonathan is the son of Elizabeth Goddard and her first husband, Steve Allen. What happened to Steve Allen - does anyone know? Because Jonathan is raised by Elizabeth and her second husband, William Voiles/Viles, and uses the name of Voiles. Helen
I believe that's Lancaster, KY in Garrard County. Here's some info from the KY Historical Society site: Camp Nelson (Marker Number: 1515) County: Jessamine Location: In park at Camp Nelson, US 27 Description: Named for Major General William Nelson, who established first Union recruiting center south of Ohio River, 1861. Original camp, Garrard Co., called Camp Dick Robinson. For better protection from invading CSA armies of Tenn., camp moved to Jessamine side of Ky. River. Major General George H. Thomas renamed it Camp Nelson. Occupied until end of war; now U.S. military cem. Over. (Reverse) Maj. Gen. William Nelson - A navy lieutenant when he founded Camp Dick Robinson, Gen. Nelson was the only naval officer, CSA or USA, to become full-rank Civil War major general. He persuaded Lincoln to abandon "hands off" policy in Ky. and to supply 5,000 guns to Union supporters. Killed by fellow Union officer, Jeff C. Could this be the daughter of John Lee Stephens, wife Ellen. Son of George W. and Virginia Elizabeth Hogue? Jill
Her father, Lee Stephens, was a brother to my Grandfather Alexander (Alec) Stephens. They were the sons of George Washington Stephens and his second wife Virginia Hogue. This is based on what my mother always said. George Stephens first wife was Elizabeth Louisa Tipton. I hope I have this correct. -- Peg

Hello, I am new to the list & wish to post my families of interest. I am a direct descendant of Reuben WRIGHT who married Anne GILBERT in 1798, Surry Co. VA. Reuben appears to be from the affluent Wright family of Brunswick Co. VA who were heavily involved with the Methodist-Episcopal Church. Reuben, some of his siblings & at least one of his sons, James (my line) were Ministers. Anne's grandparents appear to be Joanna (COOPER) GILBERT & Wm GILBERT of Surry Co. VA. I haven't yet determined who her parent were. All 3 of these families were in VA very early (1600s), around Isle of Wight Co., James City Co, Surry, Sussex & other southeastern counties. In about 1820, Reuben & Anne went to Henry Co. IN & some of his siblings went to Green Co. OH. Reuben eventually became a M-E minister in Knightstown, IN. Everywhere this family lived, even in later generations, in OH, IN, IL & eventually MO, there were members of the "Wright Bros" family living very close by but I don't have a connection established between these 2 lines of Wrights, the other of which was from New England. I believe there might be a possibility that Absalom B. Wright of Fentress Co. was also from the same Wright family as my Reuben since some of them also moved to NC. Also, I noticed that there were intermarriages between these 3 families in this area of TN. I'd like to ask if anyone knows where A. B. Wright was from in VA or any other info that might be helpful in my search on any of the 3 families. I have some wonderful old pictures of my line of Wrights, who ended up in Jasper Co. IL (and surrounding counties) & some down to MO. Also have lots more info to share with anyone interested. Thank you, Diane Ethridge Conroe, TX deae@consolidated.net
Charlotte, I think the Conatser name is German. HD
The Conatser name is GERMAN. There are lots of variations in the spelling. 17 April, 1738, Treschklingen, Bad Rappenau, Heilbronn, Baden, Germany, included an inventory of the property of Blathaser Knoertzer, including real estate, money, bedding, clothing, linens, tin articles, copper and bronze items, cabinets, barrels and kegs, farm equipment, wine, all kinds of kitchen equipment, cattle and other animals, and odds and ends, and debts, in preparation for selling everything he could not take with him on his passage to American. Johann Arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania November 9, 1738 aboard the ship Charming Nancy My line of Knoertzers (or Conatsers of Connatsers) left Pennsylvania just after the Revolutionary War and moved to North Carolina and later Tennessee and Arkansas. I would be pleased to exchange information with you. I have researched the family for over 40 years. Eldon J.
