No, I haven't heard that but I belong to a list that deals with memories and I will run it past those on that list and see if anyone has heard the term. Also, it is always interesting to know where or how terms originated. Marilyne On 11/14/06, Don Rubarts <ndrubarts@tx.rr.com> wrote: > > Has anyone ever heard stilts called Tom Walkers? Has anyone ever heard stilts called Tom Walkers? My father-in-law from Arkansas called stilts Tom Walkers. Like a lot of things, Arkansas is very different. Don
Milly and Willie, What a memory of walking with tin cans and a string. I had the grandchildren doing that this weekend in the 7 inches of new snow we got. They had a ball. The larger coffee cans worked well, we also flattened grocery boxes for sleds, they worked better and went faster than the ones they bought from the store. After playing out in the snow for three hours, we came in and took soup cans and string and made telephones while the milk was heating for hot chocolate. Needless to say it was a good weekend. Willie I remember walking down to the Patton's with my Delk & Leffew cousins. We built stilts and tried walking around the yard with them. I had no luck so I stuck to poking 2 holes in a big can and drawing a rope through and then walking on the cans.. Milly WARD Piros My Mind is Like Lightning.... Hi, Marilyn, Elmer does have some children and other relatives in Fentress Co. But, generally speaking, his branch of the Voiles family is more Allardt oriented while the second branch of the Voiles family is more Armathwaite oriented. Just a note, both branches of the Voiles family in FC were started by couples named William and Elizabeth Voiles. Helen
Small world, isn't it? How do we get so scattered out all over the globe? Joyce was a nice girl, but I got sent to Alaska and we corresponded for awhile, and then just quit writing. I never saw her again. I actually stayed in Alaska for a total of four years, but only 32 months of that was with the Air Force. And since I didn't get back to this area for another 43 years, I kept only family as contacts. I checked Bruce York's Fentress County information for Luther Buck. If this would be Luther Quitman Buck, his father was George Washington Buck. You might want to search there. Hello, John: Is this the same Sarah Elizabeth SCROGGINS that married William Scofield SCOTT? He died @ about 41y: 22 January 1922, so she could have married # 2? She is listed as a (SCOTT) widow @ 48y on the April 10, 1930, Fentress Co. Census. I have 5 SCOTT children for her: there may be more. Thanks for checking. Dixie (SCOTT)

Brenda, My mother knows this family. I will ask her tomorrow when I visit her in the nursing home. I dated his sister Joyce a couple of times in the 1950's when I was in the military, but I really don't know the family. Hello, John: I have been checking your sites out and I will get back to you on the connections. My SCOTTs did come from Fentress To Casey Co. KY. Thank you for answering my note. You are the first one to reply. I really have not a clue about these two marriages. Maybe someone will still connect them. I will make notes and compare. Thanks again. Dixie (SCOTT)
Hello List, I am trying to confirm the parents of Jacob Samuel Reagan b. abt 1810. I have seen n some sources that he was the s/o Joel & Rachel Reagan. However, I am wondering if Samuel could be the s/o Peter Reagan Jr? Since Samuel was b.abt 1810, & according to 1830 Fentress Co census, he could be the son of either Joel & Rachel - pg 16 or Peter & Nancy - pg 4. Samuel md Elizabeth Pennycuff just after 1830. Elizabeth Pennycuff was the d/o John Pennycuff of 1830 Fentress also on pg 4. Hence, since both Peter Reagan and John Penntcuff is listed on pg 4 together of 1830 Fentress, could Samuel possibly be s/o Peter Jr? According to 1820 & 1830 Fentress Peter had a least 4 sons: Caleb b. 1801 John b. 1802 Joel b. 1807 4th son? b. bet 1810 & 1820. Can anyone confirm the sons of Peter Jr? Did he have a will which would list his children? Joel Reagan had only two sons b. bef 1820. 1 male b 1802-1804 Possibly Charles b. 1800/1803 1 male b. abt 1810 Possibly William b. 1809/1810. Wm is isted on pg 16 on same pg as Rachel Reagan, widow of Joel. Did Joel Reagan have a will in which his children were listed? Any help appreciated!!!!! Thanks JW Garrett
