    1. John JONES @ 1830, Fayette
    2. Hello! I'm seeking info on the John JONES who is shown in the 1830 census for Fayette County. Specific questions are: was he born in PA? Did he have a son about 11 years old in 1830 and another about 2 years old? Who was his wife? Was she b. in TN? My info shows that William M. JONES, b. 1819 in Decatur, AL (who may be the son of this John Jones) married Frances Adline SLAUGHTER in Fayette 31 Dec. 1839. In 1840, William was living in Samuel Slaughter's household. William was security for Samuel SLAUGHTER's estate when Samuel died @ 1841-42. Shortly after Samuel's death, the family moved to Harrison County, TX. William's younger brother-- or half-brother, perhaps-- moved with them. His name was Andrew Jackson JONES, b. @ 1828 in either AL or TN. Thanks for any help! I'll be glad to share info. Jan Brown

    1. James MILLIKEN
    2. I am looking for some "kind soul" to look up the will of James MILLIKEN, who died in Fayette Co., TN in 1854. His widow's name would have been Amanda. I am not sure if his daughter-in-law, Sarah, who must have been married to his son (whose name I do not know), and her children were still living with James and Amanda at the time of James' death. I am hoping that James' will may shed some light on his children's names, and/or show that Sarah was the "widow of my son ???" I think that these are MY MILLIKENs and am looking for any and all pertinent information. I believe that Sarah and the children eventually migrated to Texas, winding up in Cherokee Co., TX. The will I found in a book called "Index to Tennessee Wills and Administrations 1779 - 1861." It is a will for a "James Milliken, 1854, ib-h-241-(F)." I know that the (F) is for Fayette Co. and James was on the 1850 Census of Fayette Co., TN. I don't know the capital of Fayette Co., TN or where the courthouse is. If anyone lives fairly close, I would really appreciate someone looking this will up for me and making copies. I would be more than happy to pay you. Lana in Texas

    1. MILLIKEN, James -- Index to Early TN Wills
    2. Hi, I am new to this list. I found information on a James MILLIKEN who died in 1854 or his will was probated in 1854. As I think that this just MAY be the James MILLIKEN that I am looking for, I copied down the information. It was in a book called, "Index to Early Tennessee Wills & Administrations, 1779 - 1861" by Byron and Barbara Sistler, Nashville, TN 1990. The information listed in the book was: Milliken, James 1854 ib-h-241 (F) I know that the (F) is for Fayette County, TN. I am not sure what the other means. If anyone on this list knows what this means, would they please let me know. I would REALLY like for someone who has access to the Fayette Co., TN probate records, to do a lookup for me. I would gladly pay the copying expenses to have a copy of this will. If anyone would be able to do this lookup, please let me know, and I will send you my snail mail address (plus whatever money necessary). Lana LeCroy Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX
