Email list > Hi (Mollie Simpson?), > > I would like to be listed on the email list researching Dickson Co. families. My surnames are: > > DICKSON > JAMES > PARRISH > EDMONDSON > > I've worked the JAMES, PARRISH and EDMONDSON lines extensively over the last 2 1/2 years. About 3 week ago I started working the DICKSON line with intensity upon discovering that my wife's gr. gr. gr. grandfather, Hugh DICKSON of Dry Branch of Yellow Creek WAS NOT the son of Joseph DICKSON who died ca. 1803 leaving the first Will recorded in Dickson Co. > > Joseph had a son Hugh DICKSON who married Hannah HICKS but that family moved to Franklin Co. AL and he died ca. 1843 whereas our Hugh DICKSON remained in Dickson Co. and died ca. 1847. > > I've confident in that discovery. > > More recently I've come to the realization that Dr. William DICKSON, Jr. of Davidson Co. and namesake of Dickson Co. may NOT be the son of Col. William DICKSON of Duplin Co. as so generally accepted and published. That discovery (made the day before yesterday) at the archives in Charlotte almost blew Linda and me away! > > I'll post the evidence. > > Sorry I haven't joined the Website before now. I've been working Dickson Co. records for the area around Yellow Creek. > > As members of the Houston Co. Historical Society my wife, Bennetta, and I were instrumental in getting Dr. Cal JAMES from Columbus, Ohio to come here and make a presentation called "The Skirmish at the Irish Shanty" . The presentation of the action that took place in July 1862 near the present site of Tennessee City and the aftermath of that action were absolutely outstanding. A number of Dickson Co. researchers came to the presentation. > > Nice to be in touch... > > Russ James of Houston Co. TN. (Bethany Rd.) > [email protected] > >
