    2. I am Rick Hollis, founder of the Christopher Strong Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution in Dickson County. We would like to mark Reuben Gunn's grave if it's location is truly know. Can you advise?? (DAR lines proven through other descendants, as well.) I have been to his grave in Dickson. Abb Gunn and I are planning to visit again, and try to have it marked properly. The DAR library, which is open to all, has an original copy of the Rev. Gunn book about Reuben. Abb has also recently participated in the Gunn DNA project confirming the link through Germany to the Crowner in Scotland. Much good, new information in recent years. Abb is the one to check with since he is the genealogist for North America, and is a magnificent source of info on all things Gunn. gunnabbl@bellsouth.net Jane Mitakides -----Original Message----- From: tndickso-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:tndickso-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of L & B May Sent: Tuesday, March 27, 2007 10:06 AM To: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com; tndickso@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNDICKSO] Reuben GUNN I am interested in the Gunn family of Dickson Co., TN and Morgan Co., IL as they intermarried with the Wright family who also was from these counties. 3. Rick: It is almost a miracle how I came to be aware of it. Back in the 90's, a builder was clearing land with a bulldozer and came across some old graves. At that time, some of the stones were legible, including "Reubin Gunn" and some of the letters of his wife's stone. There were others that were not legible. He immediately stopped, and put some barbed wire around the graves. Completely by coincidence, at that same time my mother and I were in Nashville doing Gunn research at the archives, and someone overheard her say, "I guess we'll never know where Reuben Gunn is buried." And a worker there said, "Gee, everybody is talking about this guy. Some woman from California was just here trying to track down a builder who has found his grave!" We called the woman in California, and in what was a monumentally expensive long-distance cell phone call back then, she directed us to the site. When I was last there, the stones were almost unreadable. I have learned from Abb Gunn (Clan Gunn genealogist for North America) that there has been construction on the site, and we don't know if the graves were destroyed or not. With this email, I'm putting you in touch with him, you can give you site and more info. What a tragedy if these graves have been lost! Reuben's son Lawson who fought in the War of 1812, and grandson Andrew Jackson Gunn who was a Civil War vet, are buried on a farm on Garner's Creek Road, and their graves are being destroyed too, just out in the middle of a field.
