I live less than 5 miles from the Montgomery County Archives and decided to take a tour of the new facilities last Friday. My intention was to come back and give my "list-buddies" a report about the place. Sorry folks---I changed my mind! This place falls under the category of "the best kept secret". If too many people find out about this place, it might become crowded with everyone coming from miles around to use the resources available there. (Oh, it's not just Montgomery County records---I saw indexes to records in all the surrounding counties.) Lots of free parking outside the front door, no stairs/elevator, well-lit, carpeting, several large tables to work at---and a very nice lady to give a (requested) short "private tour" before allowing me to look through the index books and letting me know she would be near-by if I needed anything. Jill took time from her work to come out and say "hello". I appreciated that because I know she must still be busy with the move and having to set up everything (again). No! I don't think I want to tell anyone about this place. If I keep my mouth shut, people might forget about it and won't bother going there. Then, it would be like having my own private library full of resources! (Check it out, people! If you've been to the Montgomery County Archives in times past, forget it---you don't know what you are missing if you don't put this place on the top of your list of "Places to See". Monday thru Friday, 9:00 until 4:00, Veteran's Plaza near the Clarksville-Montgomery County Library---Pageant Lane/Crossland Ave. side of the Plaza) I failed to get that "very nice lady's" name---but I told her I was going to tell all my friends to stop by and see her. If you don't have time to do any research, please just stop by and stick you head in the door long enough to tell her I said "hi"! (That way, she will know I did what I said I'd do!) Sandy Ellis
