Regards the Missisippi River.. I think maybe Jeremiah V. Mitchell stayed in Hardin area after the war as his family was gone and it was easiest... besides the fact that he had a bad ankle from the war and other health problems....that is probably where he was mustered out....his father died in Rock Island Confederate Prison which was near the site of major battles in the war and where Confederates were sent in a makeshift prison as the other monstrosity prisons were full.....
