Robert Duke died in another state but had requested his body be returned to Tennessee so he could be buried with the Johnson family. His second wife and his children agreed and shipped the body to Tennessee. Here is where the mystery begins. Though he was an old man and a medical doctor, the stone on his grave was made for a child's grave (has a little lamb on top). Could be the family had that one laying around in the barn or it could be the only one available or . . . . . Are there any records concerning tombstones from the year 1916? Anyone have any ideas? Floreda
Florenda, I could very well be wrong, but I think the the Lamb has something to do with being Gods sheep or something like that as opposed to it being for a child! --- Varick <tallygators@earthlink.net> wrote: > Robert Duke died in another state but had requested > his > body be returned to Tennessee so he could be buried > with > the Johnson family. > > His second wife and his children agreed and shipped > the > body to Tennessee. > > Here is where the mystery begins. > > Though he was an old man and a medical doctor, the > stone on > his grave was made for a child's grave (has a > little lamb on top). > > Could be the family had that one laying around in > the barn or it > could be the only one available or . . . . . > > Are there any records concerning tombstones from the > year 1916? > Anyone have any ideas? > > Floreda > > > > ==== TNDICKSO Mailing List ==== > http://www.rootsweb.com/~tndickso/index.htm > Join our sister list DICKSONDIGGERS@topica.com > Have you submitted a pix or history to our webpage > lately? > > ============================== > Create a FREE family website at MyFamily.com! > http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=RWLIST2 > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The lamb has been known to symbolize: Purity, Innocence, Gentleness, and Sacrifice, (among other things depending on the religion). > From: Varick <tallygators@earthlink.net> > Reply-To: TNDICKSO-L@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 12:45:56 -0400 > To: TNDICKSO-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [TNDICKSO] another Robert Allen Duke mystery > Resent-From: TNDICKSO-L@rootsweb.com > Resent-Date: Wed, 25 Jul 2001 10:42:50 -0600 > > Robert Duke died in another state but had requested his > body be returned to Tennessee so he could be buried with > the Johnson family. > > His second wife and his children agreed and shipped the > body to Tennessee. > > Here is where the mystery begins. > > Though he was an old man and a medical doctor, the stone on > his grave was made for a child's grave (has a little lamb on top). > > Could be the family had that one laying around in the barn or it > could be the only one available or . . . . . > > Are there any records concerning tombstones from the year 1916? > Anyone have any ideas? > > Floreda > > > > ==== TNDICKSO Mailing List ==== > http://www.rootsweb.com/~tndickso/index.htm > Join our sister list DICKSONDIGGERS@topica.com > Have you submitted a pix or history to our webpage lately? > > ============================== > Create a FREE family website at MyFamily.com! > http://www.myfamily.com/banner.asp?ID=RWLIST2 >
