FINALLY found my Jeremiah V. Mitchell I have been hounding all you guys about.. Just obtained his Civil War Record.... a very sad tale in itself.. disabled and died alone in 1936.....rest of his family and elations apparenetly gone or lost track of during the war. Anyway.. I have another request to ask about.. this document says that he lived in Hardin county his last years..but that he was born in Humphreys in 1847 (which I kow to be correct).....it also states at the time of his application, "that his wife Mary" had been dead 35 or 40 years by that time...so thats when the son Hale that no one has ever seen or heard of was taken to Texas to live with family, apparently son as Jeremiah joined Civil War service..... soooooooo what I need to find is his marriage to "Mary" and or death documents or info on her..possibly I can locate son in Texas if any of the information is on the death certificates....it appears that Mary died about 1867 (?) which supports the other information the family had on him... any one have suggestion to cover the Hardin-Humphreys area for the marriage of these two? Or possible a death notice in a newspaer or something.. the reords state that he served as Justice of Peace almost until his death so it must have been noted somewhere along the way......... He served at Fort Donalson, Vicksburg among other battles...dying very poor until after four years of missing records of his service he was granted a Pension because of the letters written on his behalf of those who knew him as an long time resident of the area and his work for the Courts etc....only to recieve a pension in the last years of his life and failing health.. all those he served with were deceased at that time. such a sad and sorry tale of our country..... Would at least like to obtain information regards him if I can... he seems to have lost contact with any living relatives including the ones in Texas....I feel that this is the least we can do for him... Open to suggestions..... Lenora One person says married to Mary Jarrett. but have found no documentation for this.... another gave a different name fro Marys surname...help.....
