I think I might have finally hit pay dirt! I finally received my page of th 1840 Census, Montgomery Co. IL. On the same day I got two answers about a query on the same counties mailing lists. One replying about what a book said about a James Kelley (my line, yeee haw!) and another from a King family descendent telling me that his and my families were friends in Lincoln Co TN. The oldest sons from the two families went to IL together in the late 1820's "surveying". They came back and moved both entire families west to Montgomery Co, IL in about 1829. I spent several hours transcribing the page of census--1840 is one of those age and sex break down ones. I have nothing but admiration for the people who do entire counties! What eye strain! On this page, were my Kelley's, another son I didn't know about (but that the book confirmed), several Kings, and people of the same names as my Kelley's kids in laws--also some who later married grand kids (Berry, Grantham, Wiley to name a few). I still don't have them on any record in TN other than Noah and Hannah's marriage in Wilson Co, TN, and a land sale involving a Noah Kelley in 1813. I do have a county to look in now. Mr King said Lincoln Co., Mulberry area. Anyone recognize the names? Pat in WA state
