Will some of you Clardy family researchers help me, please? Sherrod D. Thompson, son of Allen Thompson, is said to have married a Martha A. Smith in Davidson Co, TN, in 1840. At the time of the 1860 census, however, he is reported with wife Elizabeth, aged 29. In a secondary source for TN marriages that I have, it shows a marriage of Sherrod D. Thompson to Elizabeth F. "Clandy," 8/14/1856, in Williamson Co, TN. I know that Benjamin A. Clardy had a daugher Elizabeth F. and was living in Williamson Co. in 1850. Am I correct in assuming that Elizabeth, daughter of Benjamin A. Clardy, married Sherrod D. Thompson? Thanks for any information. Betty Ravenholt

Hi Betty, Sherrod D Thompson married Elizabeth F Clardy 14 August 1856. I don't know if he was married before. Sherrod D and Elizabeth had a daughter Tennie (probably Tennessee) who married first a Faulkner and then a Joe Roberts. I received a bunch of Clardy information and I know there's some on Tennie, but I have't looked at all of it yet. Will get back in touch as soon as I get these papers organized! I had to SHOVE these papers in a drawer, along with a lot of other things, when our company came and now that they have gone, I have to sort before I can discover what I have.
