Dear Sandy, I dug out Miles Thomas Ellis as the father of Noah Webster Ellis (wife of Sadie Cora McClurkan), but Debby Sullins has updated and filled in a bunch of holes for me when she was jogged by this memo (I guess). The other Ellis that I'm rabid about for the nonce is Thomas Ellis, spouse of Lucy Balthrop. I would estimate that they were born around 1775 or a little later. They were married in North Carolina, but apparently they came with her father and other members of the family to the Dickson County area of Tennessee around 1815. There is an old handwritten note in the records of her mother's will in the Dickson County courthouse from her brother Francis to her brother Willie (Wiley), serving as executor, indicating that Willie needed to provide some funds to "sister" Lucy (apparently a loan to her mother) out of the estate of her mother to pay off a claim against the estate. I show two sons, Michael T Ellis and William E Ellis, birthdates unknown/birthplaces prob NC. Other than that, I've not found "zippo" about the rest of their ancestors or descendants on the Ellis line. The Ellis line was particularly...uh...prolific in Tennessee, so hunting is difficult.
