Sandy... I see your last name is Ellis. I have family with that last name. I have an Aunt Gracie Ellis. She has a couple of daughters. I met Janice,Joyce and Beverly. Any relation to you?? mary
Mary, I don't know "Aunt Gracie" Ellis---but would love to know more about her! Several of us are working on the Ellises in this area to see if they are somehow related. My husband's Ellis moved from NC to Montgomery County about 1812. By 1832 he moved to Calloway Co., KY but left a brother in Montgomery County and some cousins in Robertson Co. He (Hardy) and his brother (Miles) lived very close to the Montgomery/Dickson County line so we are searching both counties (and all the surrounding counties). We suspect many of the Ellises now living in this area to be descendants of Miles Ellis. Miles and Polly Bobbitt Ellis "disappeared" after the 1841 tax list but many of the older people we have talked to have given us names and other information that makes us think their children either remained in the area or returned to it after Miles and Polly died. I'm sure several people on this list will be watching to see if you happen to know more about "Aunt Gracie's" Ellis line or how we might contact someone in the family that could tell us about it! Sandy Ellis
Sand and Mary, I have a passle of Tennessee Ellis surnames linked to my tree., including a Miles Thomas Ellis born in July 1833. Also, a Thomas Ellis that migrated from NC to Tenn ca 1815. Any interest? Hello Hal! Me interested?----Yes! I'm interested in any of the Ellises but particularly interested in Miles Thomas and Thomas! Do you happen to know (can you document) who Miles Thomas' parents were? I'm in the middle of something right now---getting kids ready for school---but want to hear more about your line! Sandy Ellis
