I was off list for some time so am not aware of all names being researched...Was anyone researching the Halliburtons??? My g-g-grandfather, Thomas W. Willey m. the second time to Lucressia Halliburton (nee Tilley)..They had one daughter who m a Rutledge.. This bit of history might interest someone... "Cressie's" son William Halliburton was in the CSA and captured at Fort Donelson ..He died on the march to prison camp and is buried at Altoon, Ill under the name of William H. Burton, which is the way he signed his name and the way the family called him......This would be misleading to anyone researching Halliburtons.. On the light side......G-great grandfather, Felix Willey wrote his wife from Fort Donelson telling of young William gambling so much..He wrote " I believe if William Burton owned the whole state of Tennessee he would lose it in two weeks..He has lost all his money and half of mine"....I thought this hilarious as why did Felix give William his own money if he knew he was gambling it away???? Trying to look out for his young step brother Felix wrote " we had to leave William Burton and Henry Sanders at Altoon and they are dead by now I reckon".... They were ! Such a short sentence for such grief as Henry was Felix's best friend and William a very loved younger brother....(Henry's brother, John Sanders helped Felix when he was ill with hepatitis in camp) Thought this bit of history might touch someone else's family.. I have some Halliburtons, but your names are fitting in. Maybe with some locations and dates it would. My GG Grandfaterh John Calvin Bailey married for the second time, Missouri Frances Halliburton on 9 Jan 1887 in Dickson County TN. She had a sister, Mary Martha, who married Robert Carroll Bailey, one of John's sons. The girl's parents were John David Halliburton b 15 Oct 1817 in NC. and Julie Anne Parrott. John David's parents were Charles Halliburton Jr. and Martha Southworth from NC. Do any of those sound familiar?
