    2. The following new message has been posted on Forum at <http://www.tngenweb.org/dickson/webbbs/queries/index.cgi>. *************************************************************************** MESSAGE: (#1058) Re: Elkanah and Sarah Anderson <http://www.tngenweb.org/dickson/webbbs/queries/index.cgi?rev=1058> AUTHOR: William Anderso DATE: Monday, 13 August 2007, at 5:23 p.m. Reply To: (#1056) Re: Elkanah and Sarah Anderson Author: Russell James Date: Monday, 13 August 2007, at 7:36 a.m. Thanks for the response, Russell. Some of this is familiar. Francis Ellis, for instance, was the captain of a company of militia that fought at the battle of New Orleans, and Elkanah Anderson was in his company. I have several original records confirming this. As militias functioned back then, Elkanah probably lived close to Ellis and thus was part of the group Ellis recruited for the war. Yellow Creek is also familiar - I believe that's where the KY Andersons settled but have not yet confirmed this; the Ellis link provides some support. Your list of names in that area helps - I will look for further links among those families. The name Elkanah goes back to the above Elkanah's grandfather, born in New Kent County VA, and was passed down to the Dickson Cty Elkanah's son, nephew, and grandson, most of whom ended up in NW Arkansas where I grew up. I have not come across Elcanah (or Elcanor, Alcanor or as you point out many other spellings) in the James or Parrish families and know of no link between the Andersons and those families. This may just be a coincidence. The Andersons you name (Levi, William, Allen) I don't believe are part of the family I'm chasing. Are you a Dixon County specilialist, or is this just part of your family collection? I have ordered the "Primal Families" book and could share other info I'm gathering if you are looking for more info on the Anderson bunch. They moved to Hickman County by 1830 so the Dickson line ended at that point, I believe. *************************************************************************** This is an automatically-generated notice.
