    2. Tony Johnson
    3. This is what I can tell you about John Johnson below He is the son of Hudson Johnson of Bartons Creek in Dickson Co. Tn. ( Administration of the will and properties he received) Hudson Johson's wife is Agness who was born 1740-1750 unknown Where Hudson Johnson's traval Route is North Carolinia unknown at this time in 1776 he is living in Henry Co. Va with one William Johnson of Bufallo Creek and their neighbor is Rowland Chiles. The first lands bought by a Johnson are on Benjamin Johnson in Halifax Co. Va, then his next buys of Land are recorded in Lunenburg Co and ? for Buffalo Creek. Hudson Johnson lived by James Johnson in Henry Co. Va. the rev. Thomas Murrell re married the widow of this James Johnson and they with Hudson Johnson moved to Carter Valley Washington Co. NC in 1783, these lands are now in Hawkins County Tn. Hudson Johnson's wife Agness along with the James Bartlett Simms family attend the church of Rev. Thomas Murrell and his wife Rebekah Elizabeth Martin Murrell who married James Johnson in 1766 per Douglas register of St. Peter's Parish Hudson Johnson about 1800 to 1803 moved to Lands that were in what was then Williamson County Tn which have split a couple of times since then. SO I have not been able to locate where they exactly lived. Rev. Thomas Murrell moved to Williamson Co. Tn to be by his brothers in this same time era. Hudson Johnson bought lands on Bartons Creek Stewart Co. in 1803 and by the time they got to Barton's Creek it is Dickson Co. Tn. Rev. Thomas Murrell and his wife also moved about 1 year later to Dickson Co. tn. Hudson Johnson had two known children one is by John Johnson and wife of Hurricane Creek who in 1803 Dickson Co. bought the properties on Hurricane Creek. Anne Johnson in 1850 census is born abt 1770 in Virginia she is John Johnson wife some time about 1837 she is a widow. still living in District with the folks they came with from Georgia. Ann is a Aunt to the wife of Elijah Dodson-Dotson of Humphreys Co. Tn who lives right beside Ann Johnson in 1850 census. I have lots of info on Dodson Dotson Dobson families in tracing them backwards. Mary "Polly" Johnson Shropshire the sister to John Johnson is married to Joel Shropshire: He is off Seymour Samier Shropshire whose families are from lands that in 1790 are in Rockingham County NC. I can not locate their marriage information. The Shropshire's are ascociated with the Matrimony Primitive Baptist Church which I now know was on Buffalo Creek in Rockingham County Va. Samier Shropshire and Jan Murrell left the matrimony Baptist Church and went back to lands on the Rockfish River (This is where I find that Len Henley Johnson of Humphreys Co. comes from) His Grandmother is on Susannah Turner Granddaughter of Terisha Turner known as the Ancient and yes Terisha Turner and Seymour Shropshire are neighbors in lands of AMherst Co. in 1780 era. these lands are now in Nelson Co. Va. James Bartlett Simms cousins are found beside Len Henly Johnson's grandfather Terisha Johnson & uncles on Nutbush Creek in what is Mecklenburg Co. Va and present day Vance Co. formed from Granville, to Bute to Warren Co. NC. Interesting fact is the Simms Family founded a Settlement in Limestone Ala. This is where Hiram McElye'a of Humphreys Co. ( Deer Creek) father lived before moving in 1830 era to Franklin Co. Tn where Hugh Patrick filed out his Rev. War Application. James Bartlett Simms the neighbor of Hudson Johnson in Carter's Valley died in the Simm's Settlement in Limestone Ala. These Simms families or Symes families are off the same Lines as James Syme the 1/2 brother of Patrick Henry married to ? Dandridge the cousin of Martha Dandridge married to general George Washington. Whose Cousin's the Hailes off Nicholas Haile married to Hannah Ball are in Humphreys and Dickson Co. Tn. Now rev. St. Rohn Shropshire was the minister in 1698-1703 to the fore fathers of President George Washington, and to General James Randolph Robertson (Christopher Robinson). St. John Shropshire is the Colonial Roots of Joel Shropshire married to mary Polly Johnson. Have you found that any of your group of Hurricane Creek families came through Lincoln County, NC? I've been trying to trace the migratory routes of a variety of my ancestors, using the trails available at the time. The Lomaxes came up from eastern Georgia where they lived at the end of the Revolutionary War. It's thought that Samuel (the father who came north with the Buggs) was possibly a person who left the British Army to join the Patriots. Both he and John Bugg (families joined through marriage before moving to TN) both received land grants in GA before selling and moving north. Charles W. Brown showed up in records first in western NC records where he was in estate records for his future wife's family. He and his future wife (Elizabeth Felker) and many of her relatives moved into TN where they married in Davidson County in 1812 before moving to Hurricane Creek in Humphreys by the mid 1830s. Their descendants lived in Humphreys until possibly this day, although my line moved back to Davidson County in the second decade of the 20th century after my Ggrandfather (Robert Wesley Brown's) accidental death at the age of 40. I was thinking that a William Brown might have been Charles's father as he signed as a witness to the first deed I found in Humphreys County and his own kids were too young. also he named his oldest son William Riley Brown, but the facts aren't conclusive. It would be great to find that he traveled from the area that you found the other Humphreys families, but it is so difficult to trace someone with the last name of Brown! I do appreciate any info you share and will be happy to check my records for any certain names if you'd like. Everyone on Hurricane creek that has first Settlers there is Related LOL not just from 1800 era. I am finding these same families living together on The Tuckahoe Creek drainage in 1690 era. Example: William Hatcher born 1613 England died on Swift Creek Henrico Co Va neighbor was Mrs. Box a Widow. Her families are the Box Families of Humphreys County and several Others off Dr. Robert Williams and Katherine Allen William Hatcher's Grandson is one Edward Hatcher 3rd, whose families owned lands by Robert Burton in 1690 on Tuckahoe Creek Henrico Co. Va. my matching DNA is those off Michael Johnson died 1718 on Tuckahoe Creek. This water Drainage contains the Families off Rev. Thomas Murrell who died in Dickson Co. Tn. The first of the Mayo and the Matlock Families of Humphreys and Dickson Co. Tn connected to the Choate Families. I am always glad to share information, but some times I overwhelm folks as I have traced the Families living on Hurricane Creek back to their roots and documented who they lived by. I will post another example after this e-mail on the Forsee Families living by the Cheatham families of Albemarle County on Hugh's Green Creek and his neighbors in 1750 era. The Cheathams are also a family connected to Hurricane Creek. Thru my lines. I am using my daughter computer at this time so I do not have access to my home files on families of Humphreys and Dickson Co. Tn. but will be glad to share info. I will also add yours to the mix. Tony, You have several of my ancestors listed in your notes, in particular Charles W. Brown and William Lomax. Charles Brown came to Davidson County, TN from Lincoln County, NC around 1820 and then appears on the tax roll in Humphreys for the first time (that I've found) in 1837. After that date I have several records for him. He appears to have died before 1866. Charles's son Russell married the daughter of William Lomax (son of Samuel Lomax from England). Would you care to share your notes that contain Charles W. Brown or William Lomax? I also noticed an Ezekiel Brown. To this date, I have not been able to find out who Charles's father is although I've been able to identify his wife Elizabeth Felker's ancestors pretty far back. I don't think I have any info on Shropshire, but I'll take a look at my folder with the copies of original records. I have this folder at our weekend house though so won't be able to take a look until this Saturday. Any info would be appreciated. Reverend St. John Shropshire is also the minister to the Dr. John Lawson and Sarah Rowland families, who are inter married to Rev. Thomas Murrell families and the Guillam lines of Colonial Virginia. Rev. St. John Shrophire is also the minister to the families connected to Peter De Montague ( 1640 era) which will be the families of Ceciley Reynolds-Bayley-Jordon-Farrer-De Montague and Parker Rev. St John Shropshire's widow remarried a Mr. Stonehouse who I believe to be Thomas Stonehouse who lived by Francis Thornton and John Thornton, these lands will become Culpepper County Va by 1750 era. The reason I believe this is Thomas Stonehouse, he lives on the Same river and creek where Rev. St. John Shropshire owned lands Francis and John Thornton are also related to General George Washington as their sister married Samuel Washington the ½ brother of General George Washington. Also John Thornton from this family married Sarah Eaton the daughter of Col Eaton of Granville Co. NC after his death she re married one Charles Johnston of Bute County which had just formed from Granville County these lands will go into Warren Co. NC then into Vance County NC Culpepper County is the home of my Boone families which married ? McElyea in NC and has the lines of Hiram McElyea in Humphreys County Tn. Temperance Bayley daughter of Ceciley Reynolds will marry one LTC Richard Cocke who was also married to Mary Ashton daughter of Walter Ashton of Colonial Virgina. This also connects the lines of Daniel Clarke of Sellars Creek to the lines of LTC Richard Cocke as he married the widow Mary Ashton Hill Cocke. They owned properties on Sellar's run where we find the early families of Reverend Thomas Murrell of Dickson Co. Tn in 1690, Before his family lines move to Byrd Creek, in 1730 era, also to Tuckahoe Creek and Beaver Dam Creek. These creeks are the home of the Michael Johnson ( my Dna) the Matlocks, The Lawson Families of Pagan Creek. The Mayo families of Humphreys and Dickson Co. Tn Interesting note: Edward Oliver is the First I can find of Rev. Thomas Murrell's family in Surry County in 1640 era and he is married to Female Rowland and owns lands on Upper Chipoake Creek in Charles City Co, which goes into Surry Co Va. When it is formed The Guillams of Colonial Virgina also live on Sellars Creek as Does one Daniel Clarkee married to the widow of LTC Richard Cocke Rev. St. John Shropshire is also the minister to the families of Hannah Ball daughter of Joseph Ball who married Peter De Montague's daughter who was married to Thomas Payne, a ? Johnson, then to Joseph Ball and then to a Mr. Hues of Hughs. Hannah Ball will marry Judge Nicholas Haile whose off spring are found in Dickson and Humphreys County Tn. Peter De Montague's families are also found in Humphreys and Dickson County Tn. Notes: Peter De Montague's family is the lines of President George Washington as Joseph Ball & Mary De Monatgue's daughter is Mary Ball : This connects the Colonial Curtis and cousin lines of President Washington thru his grandparents: So the Haile Lines of Humphreys County are also the cousin's of President Washington as are the lines coming off Col. Arthur Allen and his wife Alice Tucker of Colonial Virginia, which are the Williamson, Box and Mayo lines of Williamson County Tn, Humphreys and Dickson Co. Tn, Judge: Nicholas Haile's families ( era 1690- on) are also in the Church that Rev. St. John Shropshire ministers too. Also of note this Shropshire line is married to the Burgess families of Davidson Co. Tn. This line of Joel Shropshire is married to Mary Polly Johnson daughter of Hudson Johnston and wife Agness of Bartons Creek in Dickson Co. Tn Notes: William May (father of Dempsey May who still lives at 92), William Lomax, Joseph Shouse, Drury Taylor, Charles Brown and John Johnson from Georgia and John Hales, Jonathan May, William and Henry Hunter who settled on Tumbling Creek.
