>From now until Feb. 6 the Dickson County Heritage Book Committee is selling the book at a reduced price. The book is a history of Dickson County written by current residents, former residents or people with roots in Dickson County. The cost today for those that pick up the book in Dickson County is $54.50 including tax. For those that desire to have the book shipped to them it is $62.50 including taxes and shipping fees. Orders after midnight Feb 6 will be at a cost of an additional $15.00. The cost for pick up in Dickson County will be $69.50 and shipped to your address $77.50. The proceeds from this book project will be used for historic and genealogical efforts in Dickson County We hear that many folks plan to purchase the book when it comes out. The Dickson County Heritage Book Committee cautions that the only way to guarantee receiving a copy will be to order and pay in advance. Remember your postmark order must be in by Feb. 6, 2007. "The Committee hopes that everyone realizes just what a fine book this will be. There still may be people under the impression that it will be similar to a high school yearbook. It will be much more, however (quoting Martha Gerdeman, Dickson County Historical Society President and editor of the book committee). Martha is also head of the local history and genealogy departments at the Dickson County Public Library and Lifelong Learning Center More than 1400 stories have been submitted for inclusion in the book. A special section will honor county military personnel, and another section features citizens over 90 years of age. The finished product will be 500 plus pages in length, bound in cloth and stamped with gold. There has never been a book of this nature published in Dickson County.
