Note ::Lots of folks used their Middle names later on in life as to not be confused with a cousin with the Same First Name. especially in the Choate-Matlock Lines. Then also remeber people usually did not move the County Lines Moved: Example:: Smith Co NC went to Montgomery Co Robertson Co. and Smith Co Tn.::: Then Stewart Split from Montgomery and Robertson Co. Tn:: Dickson County formed from Robertson Montgomery and some of Stewart Co. in 1813 Humphreys Co. formed from part of all of the abovt as it covered from Kentucky line to the Southern State lines of Tn. As countied formed the lines are all drawn and redrawn until Congreess Steps in 1880's ( going from Memory) and stops new county Formations. Now please Note this is not only for New Counties from Forming but from people changing the County Lines at will ( politics) I reommend one check on Deeds for each Creek they are researching. To check what time frame known neighbors filed there deeds in. These Sate Lines and Counties can really thru some one off as if they State they were from NC and were born before 1780 Good Chance they were in Washington Dist of NC now Sullivan, Hawkins and Greene Co. Tn. this alos applies for the time era of Washington Co. Va. they coul've been in these same three Counties. As both NC and Va claimed this area. To get a good view on what I am talking about go to your Local Library and see if they have a book 1790 and on Census and Maps of the United States.
