Here is what little I have: 1850 Di Co TN Census, p. 96, family # 94, beginning line 16: HAND, Kisiah, 55, b. GA Wm., 25, b. TN, S.B. Pilot Letticia, 18, TN Mary, 19, TN John T.W., 18, TN John, 2, TN Louise, 8/12, TN 1860 Di Co TN Census, p. 275, Family # 1048 HAND, W. Jr., 38 (male) J.T., 12 (male) L., 10 (female) J., 8 (male) G.W., 6 (male) K [or R], 60 (female) Now assuming that these are the same families: Since Wm. from 1850 is listed as W. Jr. in 1860, then his mother, Kisiah was m. to William HAND...I have not found a marriage record to prove this. I do find a marriage record for William Hand to Letticia Hunter. From the 1850 census, I am assuming that John and Louisa are children of William and Letticia. John T.W. and Mary are children of Kisiah and siblings of William. Since Letticia does not appear on the 1860 census, but a child is born abt. 1854, I would assume she d. between 1854-1860...again unproven. I also find a mar. record for John Hand to Mary A. Williams, on 6 Sept. 1854, Di Co TN. This could be John T.W. Again I have not proved that John T.W. is the same man as John who m. Mary Williams. From the 1850 census, the best candidate for the Mary Williams who m. John Hand is Mary E. Williams, b. abt 1833, TN, a daughter of J.J. Williams and Elisabeth (UNKNOWN) Williams, family # 91. The family #'s from 1850, are close, which leads to the assumption, but I can not prove that these are the same people either. [Big help, huh! only questions, not many answers!] This is not my family. I am compiling info for a book of outlines of residents of Dickson Co., TN, in 1850. I am shamlessly seeking help from others, especially for documentation as I can personally search only so many records. If anyone reading this can answer any questions about the families listed above, I would be most appreciative to hear from you. It still amazes me how one fact links to another fact, each submitted to me by different researchers. It is great to see the info in one spot. Regards, Carolyn Nelson CRSNelson@aol.com
