Hello, I am new here. I live in Phoenix, AZ, but a great deal of my family is buried in Edgewood cemetery. My surname is TONDU, grandmother was Augusta and father is Stanley. Other family members related to the Tondu's are Eleanor Clemenz, Adeline and her husband Edwin (Chick) Harris Winstead. All in Edgewood. Adeline's daughter is Ann Baker who still lives there in the area. I have just recently started the family tree so if this is out of line I am sorry. I found the Dickson site and I came in trying to find some information. Thank You for your time. Beverley Wheeler Tondu Lovenphx@aol.com

Good morning Beverley! Welcome "home"! If you've never been to Tennessee, joining this list is the next best thing to living here! It won't take long and you will feel just like part of the family. You will hear Cher mentioned and wonder what you missed. Well, Cher is the original "listowner". She's taken leave of us for a while (actually, she will be out your way in the next month or two) but she's found a good "babysitter" for us! Cher turned things over to Mollie. (Mollie calls herself the "caretaker" of the Dickson list and website.) Sometimes the list is so very slow and one of us will send a message just to see if anyone is around. Other times, we have a marathon look-up weekend---everyone gets out anything they have and offers to do lookups for others. Usually, we have people just ask questions or mention names--much like you did! Not much is "out of line"---we are family! Your introduction message was fine. Now, if you happen to be looking for "strict genealogy", you won't find it here. We are friends and many of us are "cousins" so we share many things. Mollie has been on vacation and has spent time in Dickson County transcribing cemetaries. Someone else might be busy with a "Fall Harvest" and want a recipe. Another might have a story to tell or may have taken a trip to Yellow Creek or Montgomery Bell and wanted to share. Someone might have sickness in their family and we will offer our support and prayers. Genealogy brought us together and many of us feel that sharing our lives is what our ancestors would have us do---just as they shared their lives! We can disagree but we don't "create scenes"--no fussing, bad-mouthing, etc. or the List Mama will spank our hands and send us to the corner. (That doesn't happen often! List Mama's are pretty tolerant.) I don't have any of your surnames but I'm sure others will. My connection with Dickson Co. is the Bartee/Harkleroad line. I'm also researching some Ellises that moved into the Middle Tennessee area and trying to figure out who they belonged to. Glad to have you with us! Sandy Ellis
