I have tried to comminucate with family but just get run around because of dark family history.

Welcome to the list!!!! I don't have any infor. on those families, but wondered if you knew what the name of the plantation was at that time maybe it might ring a bell. "Dark family History" to me is one of the perks of genealogy research, it's almost like uncovering your own mystery story! I found out not too many years ago of bootleggers, horse theives (maybe, they denied it and weren't convicted but still makes you wonder) and the best one by far was my great great grandfather who's parents were well to do cotton farmers in New Orleans and he married the "kitchen maid" and was forevermore the black sheep.
