Austin DATE: Monday, 17 May 2004, at 12:34 p.m. Reply To: (#480) Re: Austin Log Cabin Author: Bryan Sharp Date: Saturday, 15 May 2004, at 8:01 a.m. Bryan, Please contact Rick Hollis who is a local historian. He has a compilation called "The Lonesome Story" that has pictures and history. The cabin is not visible from the road but is across (south) from an equipment rental business on Highway 96, just west of Lime Kiln Rd. Bryan, another item is that in the early 1820's, a Methodist church in Burns was financed by the Austin's (William and Dicy) and materials and the land for it was donated by Mrs. Davidson. Lorenzo Dow was the first minister to preach in the Burns area. Does anyone know the Austin family Genealogy past the grandfather of William (and Dicy) Austin? His great grandfather, according to tradition, was an Irish immigrant. Can anyone confirm?
