Darla here is a bad example of researching:::When I first started researching I was intersted in only my Surname and not the people around them..BIG MISTAKE as people around those in your surname are COUSIN's and provide lots of CLUES on your Surname and come right back into that Name 2-3 Generations Back. I was looking at what I recorded on Tankersly and it wasn't much.I do know my Grand Uncle James "EMMETT" Johnson Mar 6 1898 died Dec 29 1965 FLorida was married to Bess Tankersly born 1901 Hurricane Mills died unk SHe is the daughter of John Brown Tankersly and Mary Ann Page aka Molly:: Miss Bessie contributed to the Humphreys Co. Historical Society and to the COunty Historian one heck of a lot of info>> I am sending this to my first Cousin Peg in hopes she has more then I do and can get ahold of this side of my family ALso Kathryn Mae Tanersly died. 1910 Humphreys Co. Tn. married one James Lawrence Shannon who died in Davidson Co. Tn. He is son of DR James Joseph Shannon and Imogene McKell:::: Granparents are Joseph James Shannon and Nancy Young to GGParent James Shannon Note DR SHANNON Was married twice:::Josie Willhite. I am hoping Cousin Peg. can help farther on the Tankersly line as she talked in person To Mr. ANd Mrs Whitfield last time she was down in Waverly and she might have recorded more info then what I THOUGHT I had. Inregards to Tankersly and Tansley::: india ink was a precious item along with paper and when a name went down that is the way it ws recored by the COunty Recorder. If he was Irish he spelled it like an Irishman, IF he was Scottish he spelled it like it would be in Scotland, If he was German it would be spelt like it sounded to him. So it is a possible. Hoper fully cousin Peg can get you and address of the Daughter IN Law of Bessie Tankersly:: that has her assorted works.
