Boy, do you have a challenge! I bump into the names RYE and WEAVER frequently but have not worked either surname in any detail. There are numerous RYE's currently in prominent positions in Houston Co. TN which was formed from Dickson, Stewart & Humphreys Counties in 1871. There was a fellow named Lucian RYE who lived near our farm on Yellow Creek. My wife remembers him and his son. A fellow with the surname WEAVER who lives on Yellow Creek is working with us today on the farm. I don't know his ancestry. I've got two WEAVER's of interest. Hartwell WEAVER who married a DICKSON in Montgomery Co. TN in the 1820's. I'm trying to figure out how the wife is connected to my DICKSON line of interest. Benjamin WEAVER, a name of which I've just become aware. He was born in the 1840's probably the son of a Penelope WEAVER with father unknown. However, he appears to be more of a Cumberland City (previously known as Bowling Green) guy on Wells Creek. He appears in the Stewart County censuses of 1850, 1860 & 1870. Then he married in Houston County and is found in Houston Co. in later censuses. He probably was living in that part of Stewart County that became part of Houston Co. in 1871. Either of the two WEAVER guys ring any bells with you? The Houston county historian could probably help you with the RYE group. Let me know if you would like to make contact with her.
