Hello fellow Diggers: I know some times when you go fishing you catch "Something", and that is what I am trying to do. (Except "Dog Gone it" not the type fish Jan and Cher catch) But now the rest of the story: I have a Great Uncle, Brother to my Paternal Grandmother, children of Andrew Jackson Rushing and Mary Collier, from Humphreys/Stewart and Houston Counties, Tennessee Named George Rushing, born 1873, he was the youngest of 7 children and when he was still quite young took heed to the saying back in those days and "Went West". He settled in California, apparently near Pasadena, married a lady by the name of Carrie Hecker, they had 3 known children and possibly more. Those known are, Mary Jewel, Geneva, and Andrew, no dates or any other information Uncle George apparently died young or at least young enough, that His widow Carrie Hecker Rushing, remarried and either before or after second Marriage opened a Restaurant in Pasadena, I know nothing about the establishment. The reason I say there may be more than 3 children. I have received some papers that were addressed to a Edna Rushing 924 - 38th Street Sacramento California dated July 31, 1930, referencer a request she had made for Revolutionary records of a relative of hers which is my 6 Great Grandfather Richard Rushing, as well as his Brother Philip Rushing also a 7 Great Grandfather of mine on another line of my Rushing relatives. I have examined all records I have access to here, and cannot find out about his time in California, Death, or Marriage except what I have shown. Any Help would certainly be appreciated, Ira Bell Griddip@aol.com
There is a film series done by the FHC libraries (Mormon Church libraries) that has the California Death Index beginning with 1905 and going through 1929. Then another covers 1930-1939. These films are grouped alphabetically by surname in each set. Rushing would be on #1,686,047 for 1905-1929. For 1930-1939 it would be film # 1,686,049. If you find the name you need, be sure to go back to the beginning of the film and read (or copy) the county codes and how to read the columns otherwise it can be pretty confusing. If you can't find a marriage record through Los Angeles County for him, you might try the City Hall of Pasadena. I don't know if they would have what you need or not, but it won't hurt to give it a try. Good luck, Dot
