Time flys, doesnt it? When Stewart Publishing printed this we were full speed ahead with the Homecoming in Paris, TN........................... A lot has happened hasnt it? There is a tremendous amount of information in this book that is entertaining and informative.... AND there are mistakes............. Someday we should do a revision......... But many of the pix are not available now I am sure.....It is a shame Billy had such a tight budget...but Thank Goodness he loved the people of Dickson and its history enough to preserve this for us. If you dont have a copy of this and are a Dickson researcher I strongly recommend getting a copy of this book or CD asap. All Billy wanted was for the memories to be preserved. Looking for Help - I checked the Jones Surname in the Primal Family of the Yellow Creek Book and found one that could be a relative. Minerva Jones page 474. My ggg grandmother was Minerva Underhill Jones born Feb 26 Feb 1916 and died 28 May 1862. Her father was Daniel Underhill. Minerva married Thomas Jefferson Jones 24 July 1833 in Dickson Co. Just by chance could this Minerva Jones on Page 474 be my ggg grandmother? Thought by the name Minerva it was worth a shot. Debbie, Caroline, If there is a index of names in the book regarding any Jones I would be very interested in knowing who they are. I am looking for the burial place of John Jones , my ggggg grandfather and his son John B. Jones born 30 June 1784 and died 11 November 1832. I have not been able to find their burial location. I am almost positive they were both buried in Dickson Co. Tn . Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Sarah_CS Surnames: Simonton,Strong,McCullough,Bowen Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tennessee.counties.dickson/521/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I don't know if I have been looking at all of this too long, but I am in desperate need of help. I am a descendent of Reece Bowen of Chester Co., SC and Ann I Singleton McCullough, second wife of Reece Bowen through their daughter, Rosannah Bowen settled last in Dickson Co, TN. According to correspondence I received from a relative, Reece Bowen's first wife Sarah Strong Bowen, daughter of Christopher Strong, and grandaughter of Christopher Strong, Elizabeth Bowen Betts all died of smallpox in 1827. Within six months, Christopher returned to Chester, married his second wife Rosannah McCullough (somewhere I found her last name, just can't remember where) and brought back Rosannah's cousin Ann I. Simonton McCullough, Rosannah's cousin, as a wife for Reece Bowen. I have no idea how Ann ties in to the Simonton line or if I'm even related to the Christopher Strong line. Another correspondence I have says that the Strongs and Simontons intermarried as in brothers marrying sist! ers. This correspondence lists Charles Strong who married Jenet Gaston, and a possible brother, James who married Elizabeth Unknown. They came here on the same ship and settled near Fishing Creek, SC. Also mentioned is two more possible brothers, a Robert and John, who only had girl children. Also states that John Simonton and Sarah Simonton and Mary Simonton who married Wm. McCullough are all the children of Robert Simonton of NC and wife Mary/Margaret. It says the Simontons came to America in the early 1600's, first to Maine and then to Pennsylvania, where somoe stayed and this one line came on the NC. So if the Strong's were in SC and the Simontons were in NC, and the Simonton McCullough girls were in SC, how did that happen? I know this is long, but I hope someone can help me sort this all out. Thanks in advance!!! Sarah Pavatte Maynard Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Thanks for the reminder! I try to always make it. It's a nice meal, a fun time and a good cause (fund raiser for keeping the cemetery up). There's other families buried there beside's the Waynicks. Some of the other's are : Bailey, Potts, Bradford, Daniel, Fleet, MOtes, Wilson,McCoy, Boaz, Smith, Schmittou, Bledsoe, Underwood, Norfleet,Neblett, Street (alot of them buried there), Mathis,Hudson. If you are thinking about coming take highway 49 West (going from Charlotte towards Erin) go through Vanleer. Turn right onto Slaydenwood Road. Stay on this when the road forks keep going straight, don't take the right fork. The cemetery will be on your right up on a hill. There is a sign you can see from the road with Waynick Cemetery on it.
