    3. I too salute veterans; my brother who served in the Sea Bees in WW 2, and my brother who served in the Army in Korea. I further salute my husband who served in the Air Force in Korea and his brother who served in the Air Force in WW 2. Last Memorial Day I decided it was time to interview my husband about his military career. I had heard bits and pieces over the years, but could have never related it in the right order and with the right places. So we spent the entire Memorial Day last year talking about his service, looking at his pictures that he took while he was in service and even the Christmas dinner menu he had saved from a Christmas when he was overseas. If you want to be able to keep a record of your loved ones' service, why not interview them while you still can. With deep gratitude to all veterans. Dot

    1. [TNDICKSO] Docie Beatrice Chappell/the MOST important female right now.
    2. Joan Mendelson
    3. Hi all, was wondering if someone could double check for me, the verification of DOCIE/DOSIE BEATRICE CHAPPELL being born in either BonAqua, Hickman County, Dickson County/ or Stewart County? I was told that she was born in Bon Aqua, but then someone else said that on the 1900 Census, she was listed as being born in Stewart County and at the time of the Census, she was living with her in-laws, the REDDENS of Dickson, Dickson County. She was born 19 JUL 1883, parents unknown at this time/could use some help on this too. She married a JOHN BENJAMIN REDDEN, son of JOHN WILEY REDDEN and NANCY JANE DUNNAGAN. JOHN WILEY was born: 27 NOV 1843 in PINEY, DICKSON COUNTY, the son of JOHN SEVIER REDDEN and ELIZABETH McMINN. DOCIE died in Rutherford, Gibson County, TN, 8 OCT 1970. Her and JOHN had 9 children----J.B. -- LEAMON EDWARD -- HAROLD -- JAMES FRANKLIN -- FLOYD -- LESLIE -- MATTIE LEE -- FRANCES and LAURA MAY. Any help will be most appreciated. At this stage of the game, I'm drawing at straws and always coming up on the short end. Looking for some sort of leads here. She's been a thorn in my side and I really want to ease the pain. LOL My son want s to verify that he has Cherokee blood in his veins as her and John always said that they were 100% Cherokee and the one son, I believe it was Leamon, said that he had been born on a reservation. Please help>>>>!!!! Thanks in advance, Joan/Patti from MI

I was in Viet Nam in the Navy in 1969. Today, I went to Union Cemetery here in Bakersfield, CA., and attended the memorial service. I found 3 kin of mine with unmarked graves. They were Foster "Crutcher" HARRINGTON, his wife Eula BIBB-HARRINGTON, both born in 1888 in Hickman/Dickson. Too, there son, Leon Armstrong "PeeWee" HARRINGTON. Very Excited!! Alas, there were mixed emotions, as I wonder why there were no headstones or anything. I placed flags and flowers.......maybe for the first time. Please, don't forget your loved ones!! I said a few words over their graves.....somehow feeling they acknowledged that I was with them, 'tho I never met them. Gone.........but NOT forgotten....... 1. Re: [TNDICKSO] Greenwood Cemetery
    2. Sandra Ellis
    3. Frances' Montgomery County GenWeb site: http://www.tngenweb.org/montgomery/ The Clarksville-Montgomery Co. Public Library http://www.clarksville.org/ Both sites have cemetery lists for various cemeteries in Montgomery County----but you won't find a complete listing for Greenwood Cemetery. There was a cemetery book for this one cemetery but I don't know if it's still available for purchase---a copy is at the library. I've never looked at it so don't know if it's indexed or not. (I knew where my family members were buried before the book was written.) Greenwood is a "large" cemetery that is still in use. (You can buy a plot there!) There's hundreds (if not thousands) of graves there. Yes, the surnames mentioned are there---but without knowing a given name, it would be difficult to find out if your family is buried there. There are also unmarked graves there so if you are almost certain a family member is buried there, it helps to check with the office. They have complete records and are very helpful if you are patient. I have stopped by the office to see when it would be convenient for someone to look up a grave site for me and been asked to come back in an hour---but just as often, I've managed to catch someone nearby that has access to the records and gives me the information then. There are several of us in Montgomery County that would be glad to try to help find a lost family member if we had more specific information but it would take several days for any of us to walk through Greenwood Cemetery to look at each individual tombstone and list every surname. 2. Frances, I just thought, you might have the answers I am looking for. Andrew J. Foster married "Pansy" ??? and one of their sons was George M. (Marshall?). He married Nellie Miller. It's Nellie's family I'm trying to identify. Nellie's sister, Mary Florence, married George Vernon Wall. Nellie and Mary Florence's father was John Miller, according to the funeral home records for Mary. The mother's name was Annie Foriest, but there seems to be some question as to the last name. I found the John Miller family in the 1900 census, and the wife's name was M. Annie. If you can help on any of these people, I would be very grateful. Charlotte
