Hi Mike, Did Matthew Gentry also have a son named William? Someone sent me that info. Do you know dates of Matthew Gentry, Jr.? And by the way, do you know who Levi Tidwell's (b. 1782) father was for sure? Janna
Hi Digger, My name is Mollie , I am Cher's "MLA".. That means "mean little assistant".. I gave myself that name, Cher didn't.. Cher is right , I dearly love Dickson County and will do the best of my ability to help everyone that I can.. I work full time so sometimes I do not get to get on the puter til I get home at night about 11:30 or so.. Most of you know that my trailer recently burnt and I moved to my Parents house.. So it wasn't like moving to a strange place.. I am just about to get everything in order again and will be able to devote more time to the web site.. ( Putting all the things I have been sent on the web page ). I research Tipton , Mathis, Ethridge , Adams , Edwards, England , Bruce , Sager, Choate, Brazzell, Riethmaier, Just to name a few.. Now just to sit back, Cher is correct it will not happen..BUt Even if I do maintain the Digger's Surname List.. I have to brag on it.. I have met many cousins by submitting my names to the list.. Just a thought... Ok, who's next........ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cheryl Adams" <ace1125@infi.net> To: <TNDICKSO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 30, 2001 5:14 PM Subject: [TNDICKSO] Listowner message > Hi Diggers! > I am busy working on emptying the storage locker that Dad and I put all our > 'worldly goods' in a year and a half ago.... Dot- I'm not sure about the Sullivans. That is one line I have not been able to trace. It was suggested by some that I was told wrong by my Aunt to throw me off the track to find out anything. As far as I know they were from Tennessee, but 1792 they could have been in N.C. North Carolina is where my Gilmers are from. If I find anything out in June I'll be sure to let you know. Sorry I can't help for now. Sharon

Hi list, I'm another Sharon from ILLinois. My Father was from Dickson and I still have family there. Will be there in a couple of weeks, can't wait! My immediate family line is Gilmer, but also researching Martin, Lewis, Peeler, and Sullivan for now. Hope to find lots of information while I'm there. Just about everything I have found has been from info or clues from kind people on this list, since my family either does not know or everything is hush, hush! Thanks, SHARON GILMER DIXON
At the time Edmund Mansel Tidwell died (March 17, 1863) the 11th Tennessee Infantry was stationed near Shelbyville, Tennessee where they went into winter camp after the fierce Battle of Murfreesboro. The 11th Tennessee Infantry was assigned to Preston Smith's Brigade of Benjamin F. Cheatham's Division. Although Camp Cheatham was named after this same General Benjamin F. Cheatham, this division hospital is no reference to "Camp Cheatham" where the regiment was trained in the late spring of 1861. Cheatham's Division hospital was simply a designation for a field hospital probably located in a church or residence in Shelbyville and was used specifically for the men of Cheatham's Division. M. Hi List: I have been on this list for a couple of months and have thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's messages, whether they relate to me or not(most don't), but you never know where the next lead will come from. My Dickson roots are my grandmother's family. I don;t know too much about them but have found bits and pieces. They were:Alexander V. HENDRICK, first wife Maggie BELL, 2nd wife(My GGM) Agnes MAYES. Agnes died about 1890, Alex died 1893. Sometime after that the children ended up in Hickman Co, KY. Agnes parents: George Mayes and Livinia DAVIS. Their other daughters Sally, married a Cartwright and lived around Union City, TN, and Nina, married James Philip Claud.Nina and James also went to Hickman CO.,KY. If anyone has any info on these names please write! Sharon in Illinois

Cher... though I am not searching Hoopers... I WAS a Hooper before I married.. Descended from James Adams Hooper of the Carolina originally......someday.. it being such a small world as we are finding.... that you and I will find we are related!...And I also had an uncle named Hal (Hallburtin) and I see there are lots of those in Dickson! Lordy lordy as my granny used to say... since most of my familes came through Tennessee..I could probably walk around Dickson and find I am related to half the people there.!...I agree to to have you go on a sabbatical but you have to promise to come back!
