Well not all versions are identical... I had a couple like this..but the others only said I am sending this to get your advice. It's salutations were always from someone that I was familiar with.. (that makes it dangerous, as we sometimes hurry to see what so and so has sent to us!) The fact it had an attachment was what makes me turn on my redlights!~ thanks you for sharing this info..we cannot be too careful! Cheryl, Here is a copy of a message that I got through another list about this virus you mentioned. Dot --------------------------------------------------------------------- I work for the State of Tennessee and got the following warning, but three days prior to the notice, I got the virus. It has been blocked, but what really bothered me is it came in the form of a genealogy query from someone with my same surname and contained all the potent lines of worm, W32.Sircam.worm@mm boldfaced below. Because we are a helpful group, we could be destroyed by a hapless query, so beware. This worm arrives as an email message with the following content: Subject: The subject of the email will be random, and could be the same as the file name of the attachment in the email. Attachment: The attachment will be a file taken from the sender's computer and will have the extension .bat, .com, .lnk or .pif added to it. Message: The message body will be semi-random, but will always contain one of the following two lines (either English or Spanish) as the first and last sentences of the message. Spanish Version: First line: Hola como estas ? Last line: Nos vemos pronto, gracias. English Version: First line: Hi! How are you? Last line: See you later. Thanks Between these two sentences, some of the following text may appear: Spanish Version: Te mando este archivo para que me des tu punto de vista Espero me puedas ayudar con el archivo que te mando Espero te guste este archivo que te mando Este es el archivo con la informaci=n que me pediste English Version: I send you this file in order to have your advice I hope you can help me with this file that I send I hope you like the file that I sendo you This is the file with the information that you ask for Please advise all users not to open any attachments with the above contents. The most current Norton definition file dated 7/18/01 will detect this worm and delete it if the client option is set at the Parent level. Also, The GroupWise Internet Gateway is set to delete the Virus and all file extensions and variants known at this time, although we have had several reports of the virus getting through the Gateway and being caught by the P.C. client. We are investigating this now.

Lenora, I saw a Joseph J. Jarrett listed on the Cheatham County site. He served as sherriff of Cheatham Co Jan 19, 1865 to Aug. 7, 1865. It is listed under Cheatham County officials. I live less than 5 miles from the Montgomery County Archives and decided to take a tour of the new facilities last Friday. My intention was to come back and give my "list-buddies" a report about the place. Sorry folks---I changed my mind! This place falls under the category of "the best kept secret". If too many people find out about this place, it might become crowded with everyone coming from miles around to use the resources available there. (Oh, it's not just Montgomery County records---I saw indexes to records in all the surrounding counties.) Lots of free parking outside the front door, no stairs/elevator, well-lit, carpeting, several large tables to work at---and a very nice lady to give a (requested) short "private tour" before allowing me to look through the index books and letting me know she would be near-by if I needed anything. Jill took time from her work to come out and say "hello". I appreciated that because I know she must still be busy with the move and having to set up everything (again). No! I don't think I want to tell anyone about this place. If I keep my mouth shut, people might forget about it and won't bother going there. Then, it would be like having my own private library full of resources! (Check it out, people! If you've been to the Montgomery County Archives in times past, forget it---you don't know what you are missing if you don't put this place on the top of your list of "Places to See". Monday thru Friday, 9:00 until 4:00, Veteran's Plaza near the Clarksville-Montgomery County Library---Pageant Lane/Crossland Ave. side of the Plaza) I failed to get that "very nice lady's" name---but I told her I was going to tell all my friends to stop by and see her. If you don't have time to do any research, please just stop by and stick you head in the door long enough to tell her I said "hi"! (That way, she will know I did what I said I'd do!) Sandy Ellis
Hi, Doug, Not surprising, though, since she is my aunt. She had the opportunity to talk with her grandfather, Robert Allen Duke, and in her book relates the stories he told her. He had died some time before I was born but my father and grandfather told me these stories. It is my hope that some other descendant of Robert Allen Duke is interested enough in trying to help me either prove or disprove this Family Legend.
