    1. [TNDICKSO] Redden
    2. Good Morning Mollie: I have come upon some information on one of my surnames and I am wondering if you might know if there is a Redden Cemetery in Dickson or around that area? If so I would like to be able to have the stones transcribed. If you do not know that is O.K. Thanks a bunch. Tell Rita I said hi and hope she is doing well. Joyce in MI

Hope to contact them next week. If I have any luck I will let you know. 1. [TNDICKSO] Strong Cemetery
    2. Strong Cemetery is on Old County House Road. From Dickson, go north on Hwy. 48 to Charlotte; turn right on Hwy 47 at the Cee Bee store. Go 2 miles, turn left on Old County House Road; go approx. 2 1/2 miles (crossing the Jones Creek bridge) and the cemetery is on the left side of the road at the top of the hill. It is in a little grove of trees and the stones are not too visible from the road if you are not watching carefully. Someone does keep it nicely mowed now, but the little plot is a disaster. Too little, too late. Charlotte

    1. [TNDICKSO] Kiziah Spicer Hand
    2. Here is what little I have: 1850 Di Co TN Census, p. 96, family # 94, beginning line 16: HAND, Kisiah, 55, b. GA Wm., 25, b. TN, S.B. Pilot Letticia, 18, TN Mary, 19, TN John T.W., 18, TN John, 2, TN Louise, 8/12, TN 1860 Di Co TN Census, p. 275, Family # 1048 HAND, W. Jr., 38 (male) J.T., 12 (male) L., 10 (female) J., 8 (male) G.W., 6 (male) K [or R], 60 (female) Now assuming that these are the same families: Since Wm. from 1850 is listed as W. Jr. in 1860, then his mother, Kisiah was m. to William HAND...I have not found a marriage record to prove this. I do find a marriage record for William Hand to Letticia Hunter. From the 1850 census, I am assuming that John and Louisa are children of William and Letticia. John T.W. and Mary are children of Kisiah and siblings of William. Since Letticia does not appear on the 1860 census, but a child is born abt. 1854, I would assume she d. between 1854-1860...again unproven. I also find a mar. record for John Hand to Mary A. Williams, on 6 Sept. 1854, Di Co TN. This could be John T.W. Again I have not proved that John T.W. is the same man as John who m. Mary Williams. From the 1850 census, the best candidate for the Mary Williams who m. John Hand is Mary E. Williams, b. abt 1833, TN, a daughter of J.J. Williams and Elisabeth (UNKNOWN) Williams, family # 91. The family #'s from 1850, are close, which leads to the assumption, but I can not prove that these are the same people either. [Big help, huh! only questions, not many answers!] This is not my family. I am compiling info for a book of outlines of residents of Dickson Co., TN, in 1850. I am shamlessly seeking help from others, especially for documentation as I can personally search only so many records. If anyone reading this can answer any questions about the families listed above, I would be most appreciative to hear from you. It still amazes me how one fact links to another fact, each submitted to me by different researchers. It is great to see the info in one spot. Regards, Carolyn Nelson CRSNelson@aol.com

    3. Looking for help on how to search. My grandfather divorced his wife, date unknown, and remarried to a Stella (last name unknown). This was in the early 1930's. Not having a date for the divorce or marriage, I have no idea where to begin. This was in Graves Co. Ky. I live in LaGrange KY. about 240 miles from Graves Co. Is there any way to search for this info without a trip to Graves Co. If necessary to make the trip where would I search for these records? Advise and help will be greatly appreciated. Billy Jones

Janet and I found a cemetery today (if you could call it that) It is listed in the cemtery books as Strong Cemtery. It contains only 7 graves. Thanks to a good friend who helped me search and a old map from the early 30's we found the cemetery. Some were covered with dirt and we had to use a probe to find the headstone. 3. Doug - Sounds like you have a real problem. Sounds like you have a legal problem. I would approach the owner one more time in my best manner and get another response from him. Let him know you are really concerned and interested in saving your family's heritage. If that doesn't succeed have a attorney write him a letter explaining the law. Hope it doesn't have to go that far. Best of Luck! He knew the graves were in the grove of trees. The previous owner had barred children of James Linzy years ago and they didn't know they had rights. When the new owner bought the place he discovered the graves and moved some stones around after a tree fell. My dad told me about where it was and I went on a search and found it a few years ago. When I asked he went with me to the site and was cordial. the second timeI went to record the stones He advised it would do no good to return. that was the last time I found him there , but the week after he had moved the feeders into the grove and all his cattle was milling about. Just after that time I became disabled and was restricted for about two years. I intend to do something, but at this time I do not know what. I have always thought it was counterproductive to have a fenced area in the middle of a pasture and I do not think that would be the best way to handle the situation. I would just like to Id the graves and restore the stones disturbed.I may persue this in the late fall. The owner knew it was there, but had no idea of the family descendants as no one had ever approached him. He was very nice and advised he would be glad to help me, that I was more than welcome to come back anytime to restore the cemetery. This I plan to do. > > Good luck. > > Billy Jones > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: betty collier > Sent: Wednesday, August 29, 2001 8:41 PM > To: TNDICKSO-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [TNDICKSO] Is anyone there? > > I understand that I would have to take him to court.
