Mickey, I am not blood related to the WATTS line, but my step father's name was WATTS, and they lived right outside of Waverly. I remember going there up until I was about 18 years old, been back one time since for a funeral. I was just curious. Pat Durham McRae, in Indiana

Doug Collier has a deed that shows where the cemetery is. He desperately wants to save that cemetery, as he has ancestors buried there. However, it is now located on the private agricultural property of a Mr. Thompson. Mr. Thompson, upon being advised that there was an old private cemetery there, apparently took his cattle to that area to feed. Mr. Collier is now concerned that even the few pieces of tombstone that were once standing may now be trambled, destroyed. However, those bodies are still buried there and as such, that shoudl be protected by federal laws. Burial plots are sacred to most people and this type of desecration should be punishable by law. Please help Mr. Collier if you possibly can. He is trying to do the right thing and needs assistance to know how to do what he must to protect what is left of his family's cemetery. Thank you so very much for your kindness, time and concern in this matter. I just think if it were my grandmother's grave, I would be beside myself with grief. No one should be putting Mr.Collier through this. Please advise me of any action taken. Thank you, Doris Linzy ddreamsofangels@aol.com ______________________________

I have a question. Since you are updating the sirname list, and asking for one name, one at a time, will the list include all the sirnames that have been sent in before, for the old list ? Just so we can add the other names we are searching , if needed. Sorry If I am asking out of line. Pat
I read your message on the cemetery, needing to be saved, I can't imagine anyone not respecting all cemeteries, I to have a lot of Lewis family buried in Dickson Co. TN. I would love to know where they were all buried. I do not have any way to help solve the problem, but I will pray that the persons involved will have a change of heart. God Bless Pat
Laura Cooper - I really don't know. I posted all the info I had on Daniel Underhill, that is my ggg grandfather Thomas Jerfferson Jones married Minerva Underhill 24 July 1833 in Dickson Co. She was the daughter of Daniel Underhill. I have just started to research the Underhill's hoping to find a connection somewhere. I added the Underhill name to the TNDICKSO SURNAME List today and hope I hear from someone. If you see any connection please let me know. My husbands family are all from Slayden, Tn . We have looked at the Waynick Cemetery where most of his family are buried. His grandfather Henry Morris and grandmother Rosie are buried there. We know a cousin had a geneolgy book published about 20 years ago, but no one seems to know anything about it. Judy morris

Mollie, Our family recently went through the same thing. Cattle being run through an old and possibly historical family cemetery. If you go to the following website, you can download and/or print the Tennessee Cemetery and Burial Site Laws. It gives you all your rights and options concerning family plots on other folks' property. http://web.utk.edu/~kizzer/genchist/research/cemetery.htm. If you are unsuccessful in getting to this site, send me a private e-mail and I will send you a copy of mine. Brenda - I have a good friend in Mayfield Ky., John Bruce. John does not have a computer. In early August John and I found the Jones Family Cemetery on Backusburg Road out side of Mayfield. While there I told John that my ggg grandfather Thomas Jefferson Jones who is buried there was from Dickson Co. Tn and that he had moved to Graves Co. Ky from Dickson Co. in March 1850. John advised his Bruce family had moved to Ky.in the same time period. He is researching the Bruces and has quite a bit of info on them. If you will give me your mailing address I will pass it on to John by letter and I am sure he would be interested in contacting you to see if you have a connection. I live in La Grange Ky. which is about 250 miles from Mayfield. Hope you can find a connection.
