OOPS! I accidently hit the 'SEND' button and didn't mean to. Sorry. Her's the rest of the story. R. +++++++++ Hello everyone! I'm a new member to the list. I am originally from Tennessee, and lived in many smaller towns in middle TN and west TN, but never in Dickson County. I'm a UT Knoxville Grad - '76. My father, Arthur Meeks BOOKER, Sr. was born and raised in Hickman County, near Lyles / Bon Aqua / Missionary Ridge. I had a cousin, Robert "Bob" BOOKER that lived in Dickson for many years, as did his parents. He died about about 6-8 years ago. I am particularly interested in verifying the name of my g-g-grandfather and what other info I can about him and his siblings, parents, and where he/they came from. Here is the basic lineage: me (Roger) b: 1948 Arthur Meeks BOOKER, Sr. (1911-1997) Jay R. BOOKER (Aug. 5, 1877 - May 16, 1966)(Wife: Eva WARF) James A. BOOKER (Sept. 16, 1841 - July 18, 1923)(wife: Amanda DAVIDSON) James(?)BOOKER (b: 1805? Dickson County per Civil War Pension app)(wife: Serena CHAPPEL?) James was probably married to Serena CHAPPEL, daughter of Drury CHAPPEL and Sara SEXTON, originally from North Carolina. Serena may have been born in Wake County NC, but in the 1850 and 1860 Census says she and her husband were born in TN. Those two census show Serena as head of household in Hickman County. The 1840 Census shows James as head of household, with the right number of males and females in the right age group. I am beginning to get the sense that James may have been related to a Shields BOOKER that bought land on the Pine River, near where my line of BOOKERS lived for many years, in December 1811. Peter R. BOOKER attested to the sale. Is it possible that they (James, Peter, Shields)could have been related in some way? Our "family lore" tells that two BOOKER brothers walked into Hickman County, pushing a sales cart of some sort to make a living. Could be true. Where did they come from? Any information or leads about James or Serena are appreciated. Many thanks! Hi Billy: Inquiry was made on a historical marker for Davidson County, TN for the old Hodge home still standing in part of Percy Warner State Park. One of the oldest homes in Middle TN.
Susy, my stepfather was William Freeman Watts, he had brothers, Frank & Oriville. Their father was Marley, (might have been JAMES MARLEY) and mother's name was MAE. Mae could have been an APPLE, not sure about that. William has been dead since Oct 24, 1988. Mae died about 1974, Marley died before Mae, can't remember when. They were farmers, and lived about 2 miles outside of Waverly. Pat Durham McRae, in Indiana

Thanks.. I finally heard back from the nice lady at the book store.. She said to call the Tennessee Division of Archeology 741-1588 and ask to speak to Nick Fielder. He will be the one that will be able to answer the questions about how to go about saving a cemetry.. Soryy it took so long.. Pat, I must have not made myself clear.. I am not removing any of the old surnames unless asked to by the subscriber. This is just to change any bad email address' or to add any new ones you might want to add. Hi Carolyn, I appreciate your suggestion, but the town I live in barely has a library!<LOL> But, I'm going to try it anyway! The reference department in my library handles this. If any library has this book for loan, they will send it to your library for you to use, usually for a month. Most times you may not take the book out of your library. Genealogy books are the most difficult to get as most libraries only have one copy which does not circulate, but it is always worth a try.
