    3. Lenora--- > Overton County:-----at waters of Mitchell Creek and Obed River< That's the Obey River---there is also an Obed River in Tennessee---but the one mentioned in this book is the Obey. (My step-mom was baptised where the Obey runs into the Cumberland--she grew up in Celina, TN.) Check the Overton Co., TN website. And you might want to subscribe to the Jackson-Clay-Overton Rootsweb list. The people are fantastic about helping. Reba Bilbrey is the (Overton) county archivist and is active on the list---and very nice lady! This is the area I was researching last year when I was looking for my step-mom's orphaned mother's family. I'm also fairly familiar with the area---actually wanted to go there this weekend but with a "sick" mother-in-law, didn't make it. Mitchell Creek now runs into Dale Hollow Lake---the area mentioned in you book is now covered by water. Sandy

    2. Caroline found in new booklet I just received .. ; Mathew Gilmore with.....011101-0001-3A (A for Agriculture) Assume you know this but since it is early info thought I would send any way. Also found names that I think are my Mitchell families also 1820: Samual Mitchell, George Mitchell Geroge Mitchell JR. John Hays.100011-2001-3A-102-3 (Mine and Sandys I believe) And these two I REALLY need to know about: Susannah Norris 1001-0211-2A-01-1 and Jane Norris...( I have tried for years to find granmother Arabeblla (Norris) Mitchells parents! Maybe these are hers and not there were no men with them at the time. Overton County: New area for me but has : Robert Mitchell and Arthur Mitchell aand Issac Mitchell at waters of Mitchell Creek and Obed River Really interested in this as the names are al the names of the family passed down still today. Jesse Norris and Gilbert Norris... The Norris families will be very important if I can locate information on them.. Many persons over the years have tried to locate them. We know they were originaly from TN in papers but now the areas. We werent able to find the Mitchell this early until I received. Found a few Potters so I know these will all be connected to us Dickson cousins! MAYBE we can break this chain of going nowhere a bit???? I dont have access to 1820's TN census does anyone else.? 3. Laurie, I notice you are researching the DAVIDSON family from Dickson County. I've recently learned that my g-g-grandfather was Calvin DAVIDSON who was a Civil War casualty. He was probably born around 1815 and died in Cumberland gap in April of 1862. His wife was Malinda ANGLIN. They were married in Maury County July 3, 1841. Do you think we might have a connection??? 3. WEW! Carolyn, thank you!!!!!!!!! I do have some of the information that you sent but didn't have any of the info on the indentures and orphans that were assigned to the various Gilmore men or the adopted child of Nancy Gilmore and Menoah Taylor. Now this really gives me something to think about! I did know of one 5 year old child that was noted as illegitimate that was assigned to Matthew Gilmore to learn the trade of blacksmithing. I was suprised that someone would take on a 5 year old to teach blacksmithing to (dangers of burns etc.) and I thought perhaps it was actually his own child. Thank you so much for the info! I am most appriciative and it will give me something to think over ! Matthew's brother James Gilmore at one time lived in Blount County! I hope Susy is checking this out too and maybe might help her with connections to her Anna Gilmore Teas. Thanks again ! 3. I don't have access to the 1820 census either. There is a Norris Lake and Norris Dam in East Tennessee. I wonder if that could be any connection to your Norris line??? I haven't actually been there, maybe someone else out there might have info. on that? Thanks for the info. I have also come across that but thank you for sending it to me anyway! That is interesting that there were no men with your Norris ladies, at that time I don't think that women travelled much on their own so I wonder if perhaps the Norris men passed away and the ladies stayed at the same place, or moved to be with family?? I wish I had more ideas for you and I'll keep an eye out for any Norris names! 2. Jane Fagan
    3. Hello! My name is Jane Fagan. I am a researching many surnames but for right now I am hot on the Coleman trails. My Coleman's have been in Hickman County, KY and I knew they were from "Somewhere, TN". Recently, I received a Hickman Co., KY deed where Daniel Coleman of Henderson Co, TN was selling his right to a legacy from Daniel Coleman, deceased, of Hickman Co., KY for $80 to William Scott Coleman of Dickson Co., TN. Two witnesses: Danl Coleman ?Sr? and Thomas S. Coleman. My questions to the list: Is anyone researching William Scott Coleman? Is anyone researching Daniel Coleman? Is anyone researching a Coleman line? Many thanks to Faye and Donna who sent me information that was off the list. Jane Fagan __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 1. [TNDICKSO] town/county
    2. Hi everyone, If you go to www.rootsweb.com and look on the left hand side of the opening page, they have a town/county data base. It finds a county most of the time (I checked your Bagville Mary and alas it wasn't listed...sorry). It seems to be name sensitive however. If the town name doesn't match exactly, it doesn't give options. Pat in WA State

    2. Lori Rettig
    3. >Am researching the RETTIG family. Are you interested? Hi Jim, Definately am interested, though I won't be of much help, I'm afraid. Rettig is my married name and my husband is the only son of his father, Harry. Harry and bro. are the only children to their parents who came here from Germany. That's as far back as I've gotten, my father inlaw is one of those "amazing" people who knew his grandparents only as "Oma and Ompa"! So though he is living he is of little help. I've notice a large amount of Rettig's in Ohio, and wondered if there was a connection there. What is your Dickson connection? Thanks for the reply, Lori
