Looking for data for the following BAKERs : ABSOLOM (SPL/SIC) b c1740 MD JOHN ARMSTRONG, MAURICE, ENDEMION (MANY OTHER SPELLINGS), EDMUND. I am quite aware of the passes for Absalom Baker in 1803 and the one a few days later for Edmond Baker. I would love to be able to bring the 2 of them closer together. Absalom & Edmund followed each others footsteps to the point that I DO believe that they are father & son, but have no proof of course. Absalom ended up in Gallatin County Illinois in 1814 where he bought 320 acres in what later became Hardin County Illinois. Edmund Baker was appointed a road supervisor along this property also in 1814. Absalom later moved to Madison County Illinois where he bought 160 acres. He submitted for a pension c 1830 and died c1835 and is supposedly buried in the Hall Family cemetery in Madison/Sangamon County Illinois in what is now an unmarked grave. He had a son/grandson also named Absalom Baker who shows up in the census 1830 St Clair County Illinois census (name spelled ABASLUM) with him at age 40-50. Edmund Baker moved into Franklin County Illinois for the 1818 census and basically stays in the area from there on. Edmund was b 10/10/1776 Carolinas, m Saley Thorn 10/22/1800 in Richmond County North Carolina (Bondsman was a Slaughter) , they then re-appear as a family in Illinois in 1815 without Saley, but now with a new wife named Elizabeth Unknown. Edmund & Saley had 4 children : Edmon bc1807 TENN (M Sarah A Johnson d/o Johnson/Greer), Nelly bc1805 TENN (M Andrew Waddle), Elijah b c 1810 (M Elizabeth Bram/blet/t ) and Massey bc1810 (M John Thorn) With his 2nd wife Elizabeth Unknown, he had 10 more children. All of these were b in Illinois and ALL m families from TENN. (Dillon, Gulledge, Johnson,Donahue,Pearce, Moore) Elizabeth Unknown was bc 1793 TENN. It is believed that she may be related to one of those Tenn families, and probably m before they reached Illinois. Assumption being that Saley died in childbirth c 1810 - 1814 If anyone has anything I would be greatly delighted ! Please email me. Thanks !! Steve [email protected]
Dear All, Hi, my name is Michelle Herbison, and it has been a while since I have been on the list. Some of you may remember me I was living in Mexico and was trying to trace my husband's Dickson Roots. We have since returned to Dickson and the History/Genbug has bit us. I have found my self spending time in the Library, reading Microfilms and even taking photos of Cemeteries. I recent acquired old photos from the 1918's and even the tin type photos of family long ago. The names that I would like to receive and share with everyone is Fielder and Herbison, there are many Branches to our tree such as the Dudley, Philips, Wills, Swanson, Brown, Springer, Donegan and Many more. Our lines weave in and out of the Dickson and Hickman County. I look forward to sharing information with you all, again, and I would be happy attempt Look-ups for those of you out of the Dickson Range as well, seeing how many people helped me on this list when I was far away. Another project of mine is the Martin Garton Cemetery Listing. Seeing how most of my spouse's Greats' Grandparents are resting there I have compose a current list with Photos of all of the graves as of May 23 2004. I would like to know any information about the families there and I am more than willing to share information that I have with others. Please Contact me on or off the list at [email protected] Thanks to all the cousins, Michelle Morgan-Herbison

He has a compilation called "The Lonesome Story" that has pictures and history. The cabin is not visible from the road but is across (south) from an equipment rental business on Highway 96, just west of Lime Kiln Rd. Bryan, another item is that in the early 1820's, a Methodist church in Burns was financed by the Austin's (William and Dicy) and materials and the land for it was donated by Mrs. Davidson. Lorenzo Dow was the first minister to preach in the Burns area. Does anyone know the Austin family Genealogy past the grandfather of William (and Dicy) Austin? His great grandfather, according to tradition, was an Irish immigrant. Can anyone confirm? Anyone on the List searching Robinson's? The family which migrated from PA in early 1800's? John Robinson
We went down there to find it and wasn't aware that the road would be so bad. The seed ticks weren't that bad yet but we did see some snakes. I have been trying for a long time to trace my Davis ancestors in Dickson County. My 2-gr-grandfather was Samuel Houston Davis b.1835. His mother was Hulda Bishop b.1806. I can not find who Samuel's father is. I would appreciate any help.
