    3. Hi Joyce, I owe you a long overdue "Thank You" for the information you gave me about the Railroad Retirement Board. I received a treasure trove of information. When the Railroad Retirement plan went into effect in 1936 or 1937, my father had to submit information which included information about his parents. It's the only place I've been able to find documentation of my grandmother's correct name. She was so extensively known by her nickname, Maggie, that even in her obituary and on her Death certificate her name is given as Maggie. My Dad had given her full maiden name. There was a copy of my parents' marriage license, better than the one I received from the Bureau Of Vital statistics. My father's work and pay records are there from the time he was hired in 1924 as a 17 year old electrician's helper, became an apprentice and eventually an electrician and worked for the L & N RR for 31 years until his death in 1959. Because my mother drew widow's benefits there is information about her 2nd marriage and subsequent divorce. If anyone had a relative who worked for a railroad after 1936 or 1937, it's really worth while to get their records from the Railroad Retirement Board. Thanks so much for that information, Joy in FL ----- Original Message ----- From: joenash82@comcast.net<mailto:joenash82@comcast.net> To: MichelleHerbison@yahoo.com<mailto:MichelleHerbison@yahoo.com> ; tndickso@rootsweb.com<mailto:tndickso@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 29, 2006 12:50 PM Subject: Re: [TNDICKSO] Joyce In MI Hi Michelle, I am still here. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WhB.2ACI/289 Message Board Post: Does anyone know if the Dickson Co. Archives can provide copies of two deeds from Deed Book N, 1867-1870? And what their fee would be? I can't find a website with this information and would like to avoid a long-distance phone call if possible. It's always a tossup where old deeds are available in differing counties - perhaps the county clerk? Help appreciated.

Ed Your welcome, Happy hunting as these families seem to have a start at William Johnson of Coxes Creek living by Peter Montague 3rd. who was married to Cecily Jordan ( married 5 times and had children with 4 husbands). Then they start branching out to Byrd Creek to Rockfish River, to Saylor's Creek, to areas in Prince George County which goes into Brunswick, Mecklenburg Lunenburg County. They are then picked up on Nutbush Creek of Mecklenburg County which also includes the families of Nutbush Creek in what was First Granville County, which splits into Bute, Warren and present day Vance County (This is the Families of Terisha Johnston died in Henderson County). The family then moves into Red River of what becomes Tn and into what was Washington Co. NC. now Hawkins County Tn. They then move into what was then Williamson County Tn and then into Dickson, Humphreys and Henderson County Tn. See if I can make this Easier First outline is the Known travel Pattern of Johnson- Johnston Families Coming into Henderson County Tn. First Family of Henley is in Middlesex County Va. 1650 Era Next we Find Leonard Henley on Byrd Creek, Little Byrd Creek and Streams all connected to Tuckahoe Creek.(This area of Byrd Creek is now Fluvanna County) also we find Hawkins and Eatons on thes Creeks. Next we find Terisha Turners and Henley families on Rockfish Creek of Goochland to Albemarle County which splits into several Counties. Next (1750 era) We Find John Johnson buying lands off Nutbush Creek of Brunswick County, these lands are in area that becomes Mecklenburg County and into Granville County NC which changes to Bute County NC to Warren County NC then into present day Vance County. He bought these lands from John Robinson and Mary Gower the Forefathers of General James Randolph Robertson and whose families are Christopher Robinson of Middlesex County Va. in 1650 Era to Nicholas Robinson of Upper Parrish. Two important names come into play here Col. William Eaton and Reverend George Reeves also spelled Rives and Reaves in early documents. In 1770 a Miles Johnson is on Nutbush Creek In 1790, Stephen Johnson, John Johnson, Terisha Johnson are in Mecklenburg County selling lands of John Johnson of Nutbush Creek. 1790 Warren County NC we find the families of Terisha Turner the ancient and Terisha Johnston in the Nutbush District 1800 ERA Terisha Johnston and Susannah Turners son is on the Red River in Ten. 1810 ERA Descedants of John Thornton, wife Sarah Eaton Thornton Johnson are found in Deeds connecting to Nutbush Creek in warren County NC. 1843 Era Terisha Johnston is in Henderson County Tn. per Rev. War Pension. 1850 to 1880 Era Len Henley Johnson is in Humphreys County Tn (Grandson of Terisha Johnston) My Lines Numerous Families of Mine and Peg's are in Middlesex County Va. that have ties into Williamson County Tn, Dickson Co. Tn, Hawkins County Tn, Humphreys County Tn. Byrd Creek and Little Bird Creek 7 Known families of Mine live on this Water system also the families of Reverend Thomas Murrell are on this Byrd Creek system. In 1700 Era the first of my Hudson Johnson lines appears as the Minister of the Church of England Reverend St. John Shropshire. St. John Shropshire owns lands by the fore fathers of John Thornton married to Sarah Eaton. These are Francis and John Thornton ( lands end up in Culpepper County Va. after several County Lines Changes). Rev. St. John Shropshire widow remarried one Mr. Stonehouse who I believe is Thomas Stonehouse as he lives by all of the Shropshire's and the Thornton's whose lands also end up in Culpepper County. 1703 The Reverend St. John Shropshire is the Minister of the Families of most of the folks on the Pagan Creek Report. Lawson's, Johnson, Montague, Washington, Balls, Henley, Robinson etc. My Matching DNA is one Michael Johnson died 1718 on the Tuckahoe Creek drainage System, which includes Byrd Creek and Little Byrd Creek, Deep Creek. etc. The descendants of Dr. John Lawson and Sarah Rowland of Pagan Creek Settlement are found in Jonas Lawson of Byrd Creek in 1730 era as are descendants of William Johnson and Margaret Pace of Middlesex County Va. as are the Forefather of Reverend Thomas Murrell all oon Byrd Cre. Jonas Lawson's Family spread out into Henry County and then is into Hawkins County Tn. These families of St. Paul's Parish and St. Peters Parish go into four routes from Here. One group to Saylor's Creek in what is then Amelia County Va. the other into the Rockfish Settlement of Goochland County which changes into several Counties and by 1808 is in Nelson County. The Saylor's Creek lands are in and Out of Amelia County and Prince Edward County where these lands are both found Today. Four important things Stick out here. Two more groups from Tuckahoe Creek water system will go into lands being sold by William Mayo and Joseph Mayo, these lands are in now in Fluvanna County, and lands of Flatt Creek off Otter River in Amelia Co. in 1730 era. these lands will go thru many County Land Changes. in 1730 William Matlock of Byrd Creek is the primary owner of Lands off Rockfish River, and Michael Holland is the Primary owners of Land on Saylor's Creek in Amelia County Va. William Matlock also owns lands on Flatt Creek off Otter River in what was then Amelia County, which splits into several Counties. Joseph and William Mayo are also Primary owner's of Lands in Amelia County and in lands that are now Fluvanna County Some Note's on Michael Holland his father John Holland, is from the area that was NANSEMOND COUNTY in 1660 era and Michael Holland is in the St. Paul Parish records and the St. Peter's Parish Records. This becomes important in the Michael Johnson travel patterns which I will outline below. William Matlock, and William Mayo are some of my Fore fathers along with Pegs. These lands off Rockfish River are known as Rockfish Gap in Orange County and in Goochland County and Albemarle County and in Nelson County deeds they are known as Rockfish River Deeds. We know that John Sorrell is on these lands, we know that Terisha Turner is on these lands we know the Thornton's are on these lands. Also is one Stephen Johnson who first registered deeds in 1730 era of Goochland County well so did William Matlock on this same day in Goochland County, register one of his deeds on this Rockfish River. John Sorrel owned lands on Tuckahoe Creek. Thornton lines are married to Samuel Washington half brother of General George Washington and to Sarah Eaton daughter of William Eaton. Martha Dandridge lines are married to Patrick Henry whose half brother is John Symmes. Stephen Johnson is the neighbor of John Upton. (See Rockfish River Reports) Stephen Johnson is a repetitious name in Descendants of Hudson Johnson and Terisha Johnson. It is believed by the reports of AP Powell Jr. that Stephen Johnson is a descendant of William Johnson and Margaret Pace. Now Michael Holland's lands on Saylor's Creek are sold to James Brumfield whose sister is married to one William Johnson of what becomes Charlotte County Va. But more important is there are 3 Johnson's on Saylor's Creek Ashley Johnson, Charles Johnson of St. pauls Parish, and in 1750 era one Gideon Johnson who removed to what was then Granville County NC, his son Gideon Johnston Jr is of Rockingham County NC in 1790 who lives by the Shropshire families of Salisbury District of what is in 4 NC counties. Gideon Johnson is reported to be the son of Benjamin Johnson of Henrico Co. Va (1720 era) and ? Massey per Quaker records. James Brumfield sell's lands on Saylor's Creek to ? Johnson (see report) We know that Gideon Johnson of Rockingham County NC moved in 1818 to Williamson County Tn per Mary Holland's research as she descends from him. She is also one of my many cousins in Humphreys County Tn. We also know that some of Gideon Johnson's family stayed on Saylor's Creek in Amelia County. 1778-1780 Hudson Johnson is on the Tithes list once living with William Johnson and Another with James Johnson and once by himself. The Reverend Thomas Murrell remarried the widow of James Johnson of Henry County Va. We know that William Johnson lands in 1785 are beside those of Rowland Chiles a descendant of Walter Chiles the Ship Owner to son Henry Chiles and ? Rowland. These Rowland families are the same Tree branch off Dr. John Lawson's wife Sarah Rowland. We know that Henry Chiles married to ? Rowland with Michael Holland, Joseph Johnson & ? Walker received large land grants in are that becomes Amelia County in 1730 era. In 1780 era is one Seymore Samier Shropshire the father of Joel Shropshire who married Mary "Polly" Johnson daughter of Hudson Johnson and wife Agness. He obtained lands on Rockfish River. Joel Shropshire is the County recorder for Hawkins County, tell 1803 and he moved to Dickson Co. Tn with wife mary Polly Johnson Shropshire In 1783 era Rev. Thomas Murrell and wife Elizabeth Rebekah Martin Johnson Murrell leads a party into the are of what was then Washington County NC, and also of note is these lands were also claimed by Washington County Va. He settles on lands beside a Ingram and a Bartlett, in this time era only the Families of James Bartlett Sims and William Ingram are known in this area per 1790 voters list. This James Bartlett Simms Family (tree branches) is living on Nutbush Creek by Terisha Johnston families. This Simms family is actual Symmes in early Colonial Virginia, which is connected to John Symes married to ? he is the Half Brother of Patrick Henry the "Great Orator" and Governor of Virginia. Patrick Henry is married to a Dandridge and is General George Washington, now known as President George Washington and First Lady Martha Dandridge Washington General Washington gave Brigadier General James Randolph Robertson his rank. In 1790 Rockingham County is Seymore Shropshires Family off Reverend St. John Shropshire these lands are on Rockfish River of Amherst County, which will go into Nelson County When it is formed. Some time around 1800 to 1803 Hudson Johnston and wife Agniss move into Williamson County Tn, and in 1803 move to Barton's Creek of Stewart County, by the time they get there this is Bartons Creek Dickson County Tn. There neighbor on this Creek is General James Randolph Robertson who bought the Iron Furnace from Montgomery Bell (another relative) 1828 Administration of Hudson Johnson deceased and wife Agniss at this time two identified Children Mary Polly Johnson Shropshire Mays of Arkansas and John Johnson and wife Anne of Humphreys County Tn. 1850 Widow Ann Johnson lives by Burgess family and Elijah Dodson's wife, and one John McAdoo the nephew of Captain John MAcDow of McAdoe of NC ( believe in 1790 is in Salisbury District of one of the NC Counties) Okay lets go to the Known travel Patterns of Michael Johnson died 1718 First up is Henry Rowen who in 1630 era is living on lands off Mathews Creek in what was then Charles River County Colony. This is the First Husband of Alice who married on John Watson and begot the wife of Michael Johnson who died on Tuckahoe Creek. In 1650 Era of Mathews Creek his neighbor is William Eaton, this is the first known Eaton into the Colonies. In 1660 era when Nansemond County is Formed his and Alice lands are on Mathews Creek go into Nansemond County Va. These lands off Mathews Creek are on the Weynoake river where we find Capt. Joseph Johnson of Martin's Brandon Parish. Several things occur when Nansemond County Lines are formed. The lands of Peter Montague 3rd and Cecily Jordan Bailey Farrar Montague Hughes, all their lands are now in Nansemond County Va, as are several of the neighbor's of Peter Montague 3rd. (See Middlesex County report this would be William Johnson Middlesex County son of William Johnson of Pagan Creek) These lands of Peter Montague were first found in Pagan Creek Settlement, era of 1630-1650. The Settlement on Pagan Creek water systems was a venture between the Bennett Families and of Dr. John Lawson whose wife is Sarah Rowland. I and Peg descend from the Sister of the Richard Bennett co founder of this settlement on Pagan Creek. 1660 Era Michael Holland son of John Holland and Mary ? question is born in NANSMOND COUNTY Va. he is the same one who will be in St. Peter's and in St. Paul's Parish selling lands he Joseph Johnson, and 2 others obtained for plotting a River, these lands were in Amelia County Va in 1730 era. We know that Michael Johnson lived on Tuckahoe Creek in what was Henrico County Va. Also on this Creek is Edward Hatcher (2nd) and Robert Burton in 1690 era. Burton and Hatcher are both Connected ( by Blood and Marriages) to William Hatcher b 1613 in England and died in Henrico County Va. Notes so is Mary Gower wife of John Robinson she is a Hatcher Descendant. Researcher Olen "Lee" Johnson is also a Burton family descendant connected to this Robert Burton. Now Michael Johnson died on 1718 per research of Harold Johnson Two of his descendants (Joseph Johnson and Isaac) go to Robertson Fork of the Meherrin River, well this is also known as Middle Fork of the Meherrin River. The name Robertson Fork is for Henry Robertson who is connected to the families of General James Randolph Robertson's father, John Robinson and wife Mary Gower who sold the lands in 1750 era of Brunswick County NC to one John Johnson of Nutbush Creek. Now to other Michael Johnson descendants: We find the Name Brumfield on several documents ( I think will of son Daniel Johnson) now what is important is the registered deeds of land as witnesses to these descendants are the Surnames Payne-Paine and Cocke. These are all lines connected to Ralph Payne of his brother Thomas Pain of 1650 era of Colonial Virginia Ralph Paynes family is the neighbors of one Peter Montague 3rd and wife Cecily Jordan Bailey Farrar Montague Hughes. Who are cousins of the Families of LTC Richard Cocke of Turkey Island who by the way married Temperance Bailey the daughter of Lt. Thomas Bailey and Cecily Jordan, LTC Cocke a Ship owner was also married to ? Aston or Ashton whose 3rd cousin is Peter Aston of the Colonies. 3. Info from Dickson Co Cem Records-- Dr Claude H Sizemore, died July 5 1927 --was on a fishing trip when stricken. Dr Clarence Sizemore age 75, died Dec 29 1943 St. Louis--native of Houston Co. Br. to Dr Claude, Mother Sally Sizemore--established Dickson Drug Co. Md Rose Mueller. Sallie Nesbitt Sizemore 78, died Apr 1 1912, native of Dickson Co, great niece of Samuel McAdoo, Cumberland Presbyterian, married Dr. R. H. Sizemore. He died in Erin on July 14 1879. Son Eugene A died in infancy, 1-19-1912. 2nd obit Mrs Sallie A Sizemore died Apr 1 1912 at 78-3-27.Confederate soldiers were her pallbearers. At one time she passed between the Union and Confederate lines while under fire, with a looking glass under her arm, playing the citzen of the neighborhood. At another time on hearing of the hunger of an almost starving rebel, she determined to get some potatoes nearby and though the army on both sides were in battle array she passed shomehow the pickets, got the potatoes and returned, and was reprimanded by her husband for taking such risks. Her simple reply was, I got the potatoes. At another time at the point of a pistol she forced a horsethief to put back her horse in the stable, warning him that to carry out his orders would result in his death. She was taken to Atlanta while the city was being shelled, but made her escape in a meat car. In a difficulty between a Federal officer and her husband, she threw herself between them to save her husband from the drawn sword in the officer's hand. She defied the officer and called him a coward. She assisted her husband in dissecting, often standing in heaps of limbs all around her, she holding the tallow candle, the only light available, while her husband was amputating and otherwise attendin the solders. She must have been a fiesty lady. Claude, wife Jessie Hooper, their son Claude and daughter in law, Clara---Clarence and Sallie are all buried in the Union Cem.
