<I am trying to verify the name of the first wife of Levi Curtis. I have him as being married first to Mary Johnson. I believe that she is listed in the U.S. Census - 1880 DeKalb Co., 4th District, TN and being 33 years old. Ref. Page 39, Location 347 361. I may have copied this information incorrectly. Can someone check this out?> This is from the same email and agrees with the census and marriage records. " He married twice. He married Amanda P. McCellan October 7, 1866. He married Mary Elizabeth Jacobs in DeKalb Co, TN, December 17, 1874. Mary was born in Wilson Co, TN December 21, 1856. Mary was the daughter of John Wesley Jacobs and Sarah Porterfield. She married John D. Davis in Smithville, DeKalb Co, TN, December 13, 1899. Mary died April 29, 1937 in Smithville, DeKalb Co, TN, at 80 years of age. Her body was interred 1937 in Liberty, DeKalb Co, TN, Salem Cemetery." Amanda probably died before 1870. Levi is living next door to his father with one child in the 1870 census. Levi then married Mary Jacobs in 1874.
