    1. [TNDEKALB] CIVIL WAR MONETARY CLAIM FOR JOHN DAVIS
    2. Ann (Jobe) Brown
    3. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/davis/cwhorse.html This is one of our new links off of the new Davis pages which Cheryl and I are working on - which by the way are still under construction. Thought some of you might enjoy looking at it. It is actually a transcription of a claim made by John Davis (s/o John Davis and Abigail Duncan) on behalf of his son, Doctor Albert Davis, who died in the civil war to obtain money due him for a horse that was taken in the war. There are witness statements made by John's son, William, - John's nephew, Reuben (s/o Solomon Davis) - John J. White (who I do not kow anything about) and - S. P. W. Maxwell (who is actually the father of Amanda Maxwell, the widow of Doctor Albert Davis). Many names of the Hannah Branch - Pisgah area are mentioned! You might be surprised to see who you find mentioned here. Ann (Jobe) Brown

    3. Ann Enjoyed reading this claim,. Thanks much for making it available. The wording of it, really set the stage of the local activity.--I felt myself right in the middle of the controversy. My grgr granddad, Jonathan W, GRIFFITH was also in 5th Reg Tenn Cav Company A(Capt Blackburn's Co) He also enlisted for 3 years. on July 28,1862-.-------He was a neighbor of your Davis bunch, and a relative(Elizabeth GRIFFITH(dau of John GRIFFITH) who married Reuben Davis was his 1st cousin). Jonathan W. was the son of Moses GRIFFITH, brother of John GRIFFITH. My Jonathan probably went with his Davis kin ,friends &,neighbors and enlisted on the same day. Thanks again-Great.
