In 1855 The Old 16th District was added to DeKalb Co., TN. It had been in Putnam Co., TN for one year and prior to that had been in Smith Co., TN. The Old 16th District, Wolf Creek area, is where George Smith, father of Thomas Jefferson Smith, lived. George's land bordered the Jackson/Smith County line.
