While District 6 may very well have been the Belk area, on the 1860 &1870 census, District 6 is listed only as District 6 with the P. O. as Smithville. Below is how it was listed at the top of the 1870 Census page Schedule 1.--Inhabitants in District No. 6, in the County of DeKalb, State of Tennessee, enumerated by me on the 18 day of August, 1870. Post Office: Smithville James M. Lee, Ass't Marshal. Can anyone on the list provide any further insight? --Marie B.
