Hi Cousin! I have read where your James and my John Reynolds were brothers (or at least there were brothers John, James, Gay & Josiah) who were among the earliest settlers. The Reynolds research gets complicated since somewhere along the line, LDS records have parents as John David Reynolds/Mary Martha Gay and also lists a sister Elizabeth, I think it was and gives her husband's name. However, when I checked Guilford Co. NC (which is where LDS records list them), the David Reynolds I found who listed this Elizabeth as his daughter, doesn't seem to possibly be the papa of the Reynolds brothers who settled in TN very early 1800's. I don't remember offhand why I came to that conclusion - I think because in David's will which lists daughter Elizabeth, no mention was made of any sons with the right names - or if there were sons with those same names, they are accounted for in Guilford Co. records. All this research was eons ago and I haven't worked on the Reynolds line much since then -- it is a source of MAJOR frustration... As for the Tubb line, there is tons of information on these DeKalb Co. lines which is posted on at least one website that I know of. I had a computer glitch that lost my bookmarked sites - but I know it was one of the Yahoo Club surname websites... you can find it by going to yahoo.com and then figuring out how to get there...
