Hi Maggie I only found the 2 marriages, Maggie if you could find someone with the 1850 or 1860 census records for Dekalb County,Tn chances are he would be shown with his parents if the family was in Dekalb County,Tn then. the 1900 census shows he was born in 1838. I have the Dekalb County Census for 1870, 1880,1900,and 1910. I looked in the cematery book but he wasn't listed, do you know where he is buried? leona

    3. Did not find him in 1850 or 1860 Dekalb Co census. You might try Cannon Co. Also look under Matthews, as Mathis and Matthews are sometimes used interchangeably.
