Hi----- I find a Bluford Mathis in Dist. 3, Clear Fork, in the 1880 DeKalb Census. He is shown: Mathis, Bluford 42 TN Mary A. 34 Wife TN James B. 10 Son Henry 9 Son Mattie 5 Dau John E. 2 Son Ader 5/12 Dau born Jan. Mary T. 12 Dau Those county lines were disputed and changing in the early time periods and he could be in either, but I don't find any Mathis' in Cannon. I will try to look later when I am not at work.
