    3. My uncles name was Oakley Lovell Cassitty. They said part of his name came from someone. It seems Oakley at the time of his birth in the very early 1900's was a very popular name. I know our family went to missionary baptist and church of christ both. the rest went to seperate baptist. In my research I have found several Oakley's arount the time he was born. 1909 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Will Wolfman Smith" <wolfman@blomand.net> To: <TNDEKALB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 26, 2004 12:15 PM Subject: Re: [TNDEKALB] W.M. I see a Martha Martin 1835 - 1920 and John Martin 1835 - 1895 buried in Martin Cemetery in DeKalb County. Is this your John and Martha that are Ophelia parents? 3. I'm wondering if he's kin to Walker Hampton Martin who married a Grimes. His wife is a distant cousin of mine through Jacob Grimes, and two of their children married other relatives of mine. Rebecca Louise Martin married James Tallant and they moved to Kingfisher county, OK in 1890 with Rebecca's parents, and Ava Rilla Martin married Lewis Rice and they stayed in Putnam County, TN.. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joanne B" <jodbolton@hotmail.com> To: <TNDEKALB-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, December 12, 2004 11:14 AM Subject: Re: [TNDEKALB] Marriage Lookup > Yes, > > John MARTIN & Martha ADCOCK. > > Joanne > > > > May those that love us, love us. > And those that don't love us, > May God turn their hearts. > And if he doesn't turn their hearts, > May he turn their ankles, > So we'll know them by their limping. > > > > > >From: Will Wolfman Smith <wolfman@blomand.net> > >Reply-To: TNDEKALB-L@rootsweb.com > >To: TNDEKALB-L@rootsweb.com > >Subject: Re: [TNDEKALB] Marriage Lookup > >Date: Sun, 12 Dec 2004 11:18:31 -0600 > > > >Do you know who her parents were? > > > >----- Original Message ----- > >From: "Joanne B" <jodbolton@hotmail.com> > >To: <TNDEKALB-L@rootsweb.com> > >Sent: Sunday, December 12, 2004 10:52 AM > >Subject: [TNDEKALB] Marriage Lookup > > > > > > > Hello, > > > > > > I am trying to find the marriage record of > > > > > > Ophelia MARTIN about 1895 > > > > > > Does anyone have this resource? 2. Good morning Mary Nell, I am sorry about your loss but what a great story you told about you and your Daddy going to DeKalb and about the cow. My Daddy tells similar stories, his name is David Davis the son of Sidney Chester Davis and Erra Rose Scott. The lived on Route 2 out of Liberty in the hills. I appreciate your offer to take photos. There are a lot as my daddy's family have been in DeKalb County since before it was DeKalb County. They moved to Tennessee in and around 1800. I will send you the names of the cemeteries and if you can help with any of them, I would be most appreciative and the surprise for my daddy, well, I know he will love it. He is 82 this last April and I have been working on his family for about 25 years and I can finally present him with something that he will absolutely love. I have told him all about the wonderful work I have been doing and have shown him what I have on the computer but he has a hard time grasping the concept of the computer and would really like to have it on hard copy so I thought I would incorporate pictures that I have been collecting over the years and give it to him for Christmas. Here is a list of cemeteries, just let me know which ones you might be able to help with and I will send you the names of the people I would like. Alexandria Hill Cemetery DeKalb Memorial Gardens Dismal Creek Cemetery Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Pisgah Methodist Church Cemetery Scott Cemetery Snow Hill Methodist Church Cemetery I know there is a lot, but when you have been in the county for as long as they have, there are bound to be lots of people Thanks for the offer, Cheryl Davis-Holman Cis1052@aol.com http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ajobebrown/davis.html Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness Volunteer www.RAOGK.com Researching....... 3. What cemeteries do you want pictures of. I live in Murfreesboro , tn. My daddy was from Dekalb co and he died on a horse last nov. It has been a very hard time for me. But God has helped with the situation. My daddy and i went to Dekalb often. He was raised in the Temperance Hall area and , Dale Ridge, Alexandra. His parents moved often. He moved to Wilson co when he was 16. I cant talk any pictues the next two weeks , but after that i may have a chance to go. I have only been a few times sicne daddy died. Daddy was born in Smith co and moved to Dekalb when he was about 7 i think. My daddy loved taking pictures. The frist one we took in Dekalb co was on a bridge that he remember that he and his family had to cross over when they move and he said that their old cow Bessy would go across . They unhitched her from the wagon and he walked her across. He has told me the story so many times. My daddy and his family were O P parkerson , Jessie , Minnie and Gracie,(parents were Monroe and Cora Mai Dedman Parkerson.. What is your daddys name? Thanks and God bless Mary nell Paris ronparis@bellsouth.net
